Re: Experience with lillies?
The "spindly" ones are just babies. Lily bulbs multiply; it's what they do, and why it's good to dig them up and thin the herd every now and then. Leaving the smaller ones won't impact the larger ones until they get too crowded. Leave 'em if you like 'em and want more.

Re: POA Triv or something nightmare
Pic #3 is most definitely Poa trivialis . Most of mine (now everywhere) is in full sun, but I'm notably north in zone 5b/6a. This is the time of season that gives Poa trivialis the common name "roughstalk bluegrass". We've been through this same argument and disagreement before and concluded that st...

Re: Can you ID?
That's a very good point about the leaves not having a serrated edge, or at least not seeming to, which crabapples do. But I'm not convinced. Try taking a closer look, maybe even getting some new pictures and posting them larger and upright. I think I see serration, but I'm done tilting my head.

Also compare against speedwell. The blue flowers check out.

Gravity appears sideways in your world.
The genus Malus is likely correct, although I'd wager crabapple given the leaf shape. Just see what forms for fruit later in the season.

Re: Professional sports fields - pH maintenance?
Bales9er, your TEC is indeed terrible. My current TEC is above 6 with OM above 4%. I believe these numbers can be attributed to the lawn being 22 years old. Let's see how the humates work out for you.

Re: Professional sports fields - pH maintenance?
I have an extremely sandy soil (also in MA, jar test completely settles out in under two minutes) and have had no trouble raising pH substantially on two properties with applications of fast-acting limes.

Re: Serenade Sticker Shock, any big box sources?
Let's note that $35 at Amazon (plus shipping) is not sold by Amazon. It's from someone on the marketplace who is price gouging. When Amazon sells Serenade, it is always quite reasonable and often the best price you'll find on the small bottle. That said, 2.5 gallons at 7 Springs all day for those wi...

Re: Addition of Humates to Soil Plans
I sent a neighbor to Valley Green in Wilmington, MA, to get The Andersons Humic DG. He said he paid $50 for the large bag. Another excellent source online would be A.M. Leonard, also $50. Always the best prices. Their promo codes rotate, and for something like this, I would hold out for free shippin...

Re: Bad news regarding Bay State Fertilizer
I don't think the subject matter from that article months ago has anything to do with what SemiOrganicConvert has shared, which is that the "direct to user program may be being killed off". That doesn't mean whatsoever that BSF's days are numbered, only that direct consumer sales may end. It may mea...

Re: 'New' House old lawn Restoration 2020
There's no difference (or should be no difference) between blanket spraying and spot spraying when it comes to the appropriate rate of application. It's up to you to calibrate your spot spraying technique, which can be difficult. BTW, 2 oz over 500 sq ft is 4 oz over 1000 sq ft. Divide that by your ...

Re: Milorganite TrueValue $10.49 per bag Sale YMMV
Thanks for posting. Saw this on Slickdeals earlier today and bought five bags with the promo code solely for the purpose of applying micronutrients for the first time in several years. Still too rich for my blood as a fertilizer (at this time). I miss the TrueValue sales from several years back.
