Re: Grass turning lime green - too much rain?

Take a few of those blades, and try pulling them apart laterally, in the direction of growth, very slowly. If they all snap off cleanly, they're probably KBG. If you get "strings", they're probably Poa A or T. Blades snap, no strings. Get some closeups of the blades if you can. Are there crinkles? ...

Grass turning lime green - too much rain?

My lawn was renovated in the fall last year and looked great this spring. Color was nice and even. I've been cutting at 3" twice a week. Now, in the last two weeks I've noticed spots/sections/areas turning lime green. This is my first year with "real" grass, so it's all new to me. So far this spring...

Re: Cracked Corn Sprouted Everywhere

I applied Prodiamine at .75oz / 1000 sf on 27 March. Apparently corn doesn't care. The corn plants are still going strong, I won't be using cracked corn again. What's the application rate for cornmeal? Pounds per 1000 sf? I'm guessing it has to be less than what the cracked corn application rate is.

Just curious, you sure its corn and not another grassy weed?
Yes, because when I first saw them I thought the same thing and panicked. But I pulled a couple up and you could actually see the corn kernel at the base of the plant still.

Re: Cracked Corn Sprouted Everywhere

What is your source? I'm using tractor supply and have spread 150lb this year. I think I saw one sprout. If you are getting a lot then it is not really getting cracked. A different source might give you better results. I bought mine from Tractor Supply too. 50 lb bags, 3 of them. I have a local fee...

Cracked Corn Sprouted Everywhere

I'm not sure where to post this, but I chose the Organic forum since cracked corn might be used more amongst the "organics". I spread cracked corn on 13 May as part of an attempt at a biofungicide program. 15 lbs per 1000 sq ft. About 10 days later I noticed a couple sprouts and didn't think much of...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Mowed at 3" Sprayed Serenade at 2 oz / 1000 sf Sprayed raw milk at 8 oz / 1000 sf The cracked corn that I spread at 15 lbs / 1000 sf on 13 May sprouted EVERYWHERE about 2 weeks ago. I've read that the corn won't survive mowings, but I've mowed at least 5 times since it sprouted and it hasn't died. T...

Re: Do I have a disease on my lawn?

Regarding watering... I haven;t irrigated much since it has rained consistently on a weekly basis enough for the 1 inch per week at least... Its funny though that I am trying to find reports on the precipitation levels and they are showing 0.00 even on days that rained here a lot! It's a small town...

Does tilting the deck produce an intermediate height setting with most push mowers?
Doubtful

The blades cut at the edge height, not at the center point average.
This is my thought as well.

Serenade and milk together?

Is there any reason not to apply Serenade and milk together? I have access to raw milk so I'm going to give it a try. My next Serenade app is coming up this week so I thought I'd just do them both at the same time. Maybe some KH too?

Thanks.

Re: LeftField11's Lawn Reno - 9,600 sq ft - Quack Battle

Spring Routine - so far While the summer/fall renovation steps are fairly standard and well documented, figuring out what to do this spring was almost more challenging (although way less stressful than waiting for KBG to grow). My guess is that due to differing results from the fall renos, the sprin...

Mowed, finally transplanted some pots that I've had since last fall. They were still growing, so I think they'll take. Areas that were stressed from quack painting are starting to bounce back.

Re: Spreading Expectations

I have not done this yet but considered just getting a couple of bales, spreading it around a bit, and mulch mowing. Bales are probably 50# or so for about $10. Not as accurate application. Application rate should not be more than 20# / 1000, if I remember the research report I read some time ago. ...

Question on the Alfalfa pellets. How long does it take for them to break down from rain, foot/ mower traffic etc.?
I'd estimate a week to 10 days.

Envieddesigns, is there more to the front yard than what we're seeing in this pic? Maybe the front yard continues beside the house where we can't see it?

I ask because looking at this pic, it doesn't look like 3500 square feet.

Re: Spreading Expectations

Along with the fall nitrogen regimen last year, I've put down alfalfa pellets a couple times too. Mine spread more than I thought possible.

Bewitched, Blueberry, Prosperity. Front yard side with tree has fine fescue mixed with Bewitched - seems to be doing well in the shade. https://s1.postimg.cc/dqli2g0hn/Beforeand_After3.jpg https://s22.postimg.cc/h6kie8a4t/Beforeand_After2.jpg https://s13.postimg.cc/48t5brxib/Back_Beforeand_After.jpg
