Re: Is my soil really that bad or is it me?
Just an idea: Do an experiment. Buy a manual core aerator (they sell them at Lowes... the kind you step on with your feet). Plug a section of your problem area. Treat the plugged and the non-plugged section the same. Observe if the plugs made a difference re: runoff, turf improvement, etc. Just wen...

Re: Is my soil really that bad or is it me?
In three months? Not necessarily, no. Hand-watering frequently does run off; I was doing some scrubbing out and disinfection of plant trays and doing the initial sop and water rinse out on the lawn. It was definitely running off as I was adding water too fast for even my soil to absorb. That also h...

Re: Is my soil really that bad or is it me?
Well I have felt like things are getting progressively worse instead of better. Shouldnt I at least see some results?

Is my soil really that bad or is it me?
As most of you probably know, I have been trying to go by the book on everything I do to my yard. I just cannot seem to get good results on my yard and I honk its attributed to my soil or soil compaction/composition. So here's the deal...I have been applying Serenade/companion/actinovate bi weekly s...

Re: Will it hurt my yard to spray it with Chelated Iron?
Lots of folks here spray iron on their lawns. I'd suggest posting a thread asking Morpheuspa or Andy10917. You bellowed, my Prince? While you can certainly spray chelated iron, it's expensive and there's no real reason to do so--chelated iron is for high-pH soils, not spraying on leaves (although i...

Will it hurt my yard to spray it with Chelated Iron?
Not sure if its 100% necessary but I have some patches of grass that are a lighter green/yellow and was told by a landscape designer to try some chelated iron. Would it hurt to apply this to the entire yard?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

Re: Proactive Bio Fungicide Program 2017
I will say that at this same point last year, I was dealing with a lot of fungus in my yard. This year, I have noticed some struggle areas, but have been applying Serenade bi weekly since early March. I truly believe that it is working in some capacity, and will continue to trend my yard to a health...

Re: Gardenia bush struggling - need help
One other longer-term possibility is to sprinkle ferrous sulfate around the bush. Over time, it'll acidify the soil, plus add iron at the same time. One ounce across the entire root system three times yearly would be more than enough. Chelated iron will need to be added at first as well--the ferrou...

Re: Kelp Help / Soil Conditioner Question For Small Lawn
Molasses seems to act as a defoamer when I combine with shampoo. Maybe adding a couple of ounces more to the spray container would help with the foaming problem. Won't hurt the lawn. As to volume in container: Determine how much of the concentrate you want to apply based on the thousand sq ft area....

Re: Gardenia bush struggling - need help
I see signs of chlorosis. I saw a hint of that in the first picture, but it's pretty pronounced in the others. Gardenias prefer soil that is somewhat acidic. If your soil ph is too high, the plant may not be able to use the iron in the soil. You said there was plenty of rain while you were gone. Ho...

Gardenia bush struggling - need help
Hey guys, so I got back from a week on vacation and noticed my gardenia bush was really struggling. We got plenty of rain while I was gone, so it couldn't have been that. Re: Kelp Help / Soil Conditioner Question For Small Lawn
I just purchased a Chapin G362 Professional All Purpose Hose End Sprayer that is being delivered today, and was wondering what setting I need to put it on to apply BLKH and BLSC? Also, how much of each product should I put in the hose end sprayer container?

Spray weeds before or after Mow?
Hey guys, so I just got back from a week vacation and noticed that not only is my grass pretty high, but I have had some coney weeds pop up in the back yard. Is it ok for me to go ahead and mow the yard now and then spray the weeds with triclopyr? Or should I spray the weeds now and mow tomorrow? I'...

Heading out of town for a week - Do not have an Irrigation System, but need help
Hello everyone.. I need some quick help on the lawn. I do not have an irrigation system, and am about to head out of town for the next week. They are forecasting upper 80s and low 90s every day with no rain.. I know the deep and infrequent tactic, but do you guys have any recommendations for a quick...

Re: Kelp Help / Soil Conditioner Question For Small Lawn
Hah sure, that makes sense. So do you recommend using the hose end sprayer for application vs the hand held?MorpheusPA wrote: ↑May 15th, 2017, 1:48 pmThey all love bubbling up badly. SLS and SLES are what adds massive bubbles to commercial soaps and shampoos.
There's no easy (or really, any) fix for that.

Re: Planted some Knock Out roses this weekend.
The smaller knock out looks like it will be fine. You can gently fertilize it as well which will help. Try to use a slow release fertilizer (Milorganite is good) as young roses sometimes don't respond well to a high salt fertilizer. The drainage issues may also be stressing the rose. As Morpheus sa...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Mowed (bagged because grass was pretty high after one week), edged/trimmed, blew off. Trimmed back cedar trees in my back yard, cut them up and hauled off (pain in my butt). Also mulched in the front.
