Great thread! I'm just a consumer, but curious.
By that, do you mean that you might like to try it yourself, or that you're curious about the process, or . . .?

How much do you want to know?

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

More what I didn't do.

Snow was forecast, but then it's supposed to warm up.

So I did nothing. The snow was lake effect snow. It may be there until spring.

I should have thrown down some seed.

Home Brewing

I mentioned spreading spent grains on the "what did you do on your lawn" thread, and it sparked some interest. In order to keep that thread to lawncare, I decided to create a new thread for home brewing. How many home brewers do we have here? Wine and mead makers can feel free to chime in.And if you...

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

who cares about the lawn ;) ...what kind of beer did you make and how did it turn out? It was sort of a mystery beer. I bought some grains called Wundergrains. These are mixed grains resulting from various errors. So you never know what they're going o be. I used 10 lbs of wundergrains and 5 lbs of...

Re: No more triathlons for me this year

I got the ok from my doctor to sign up for triathlons next year as long as I'm careful on the bike and as long as I ramp up my distances slowly. I need to find some emails now. One is the invitation to age group nationl championships and the email for the local triathlons that I missed this year and...

Spread humic acid. We're supposed to get a couple of days I'd rain later this week, so I figured these timing is right.

I'm going to go out on a limb and make a prediction.

This post will have no effect on questions about average vs actual first frost in the other thread

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

It's supposed to rain pretty much all day tomorrow and Sunday, with a good chance for rain much of the rest of the week. So yesterday, even though it's really late in the season, I threw some crested wheatgrass seed down in bare spots. Since it's a grass that originated in Siberia, maybe it'll do ok...

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Staring at some brown spots I had in the lawn I thought were dormant but now aren't coming back with all the rain and cooler weather we are having. Fearing these sections are dead which I have never had happen. How big are these patches? There are about 4 in my entire yard and maybe anywhere from 1...

10/11 noonish

I sent an email to my boss today. I'm finishing up one last task and will stick around to demo it to the client on Tuesday.

After that, I'm officially retired.

Assuming there's a good amount of kbg in that, those bare doors are nothing and will fill in on their own before the end of next year.

If I were you, I'd just wait.

Re: Urea source

You’ll get better results searching for feed grade. You’ll get even better results searching at feed mills and not coops. (There are simply more feed mills in most areas and it’s a staple for feeding livestock). You’ll also, in most cases, get better prices. This. Cosmetic grade urea is kind of a s...

Re: Urea source

If I remember correctly, there's a difference between feed grade and food grade. Feed grade is approved to feed to animals, and food grade is approved to feed to people. I think the grades are (in order): fertilizer/commercial, feed, cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical. I've bought cosmetic grade urea to...

Re: No more triathlons for me this year

Wow... the varia looks very cool. Also, it was hard to give up and certainly, my cardio health has paid a price. The yard seems to be my exercise these days. I was really glad I got the varia. It's not very useful now, but it was great for figuring out when it was safe to turn left on a busy street...
