Re: Review: Ryobi Cordless/40v Mower Review. (both 16in and 20in.)

Thanks for the review and the update. I'm following with interest because I'm considering a cordless mower. My main interest is getting something lightweight because I have to carry the mower up steps to reach my back yard. It looks as if the Ryobi 40V 20" weighs about 45 pounds (compared to 68 poun...

I don't know what the grass is, but the broadleaf weed is a variety of speedwell. See the heart-shaped seed capsules?

This is the southern grass version of Scotts Turf Builder. Is this what you used? http://www.scotts.com/smg/goprod/lawn-b ... /prod90008

What fertilizer did you use? This Scotts Weed and Feed label says do not use on St. Augustine http://www.scotts.com/smg/goprod/turf-b ... od11670004

Re: Light green grass in heavily watered areas after mow?

Prior to mowing there was no visible color difference, but a quite obvious height difference. It was only after mowing the color difference was visible. Last year, the area near the sump pump was much, much thicker early in the year near the sump pump discharge, but no extreme color difference like...

Re: Where to buy Cascade (wetting agent)?

Moisture Manager is the same as Hydretain--Hydretain ES, I believe. It has a small amount of wetting agent, but it's mostly other ingredients.

Re: LED bulbs ready for prime time?

Thanks for bumping this, GD. I'm wondering about a couple of thing myself regarding LEDs. First, I need to replace a 100 watt incandescent bulb in a bathroom exhaust fan-light fixture. All the 100-watt equivalent bulbs at the big orange store were labeled as not suitable for use in a totally enclose...

Re: Kick starting the micro herd

Thought about that. I've made the tea before. But it's a pain in the butt. I have to go get river water, can only find 20lb bags of worm castings around here, Then brew it and spray it. But that may be my only option if the herd doesn't take off soon. I think the alternative is compost, but that's ...

Poa triv is very rarely introduced in seed mixtures. [ Post made via iPhone ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/images/mobile/iPhone.png Actually, poa trivialis is sometimes (often?) introduced intentionally in seed mixtures for shady areas. http://www.jonathangreen.com/product/shady-nooks-grass-see...

Re: Dwarf alberta spruce

I went looking for insecticidal soap to spray spider mites on false indigo, but I couldn't find any locally. So I settled on Captain Jack's Dead Bug Brew (active ingredient spinosad) because it was the only thing on the shelf besides the oil sprays that was labeled for mites. It worked terrifically ...

Re: When to put down POA pre-m app?

I'm trying to source Prodiamine granular but am having trouble. Site One near me doesn't carry it. I've heard that Western PA will have the Internet soon Oh I've found it online. Too expensive. Might try without it this year anyway. Just got the internet's. I can do so much  [ Post made via i...

Re: Designing Optimal Wild Violet Routine

The big thing it misses is WHEN to do it. Before flowering in Spring, or after the growth resumes in Fall are the optimal times, as the metabolism is higher (faster kill, fewer apps). Yep. This. I never tried in spring, but spraying in fall works like a charm. Also, check your label. This label for...

In my wildest dreams I couldn't imagine using that. As an admitted serial renovator, it would be like telling someone that enjoys painting that they could only paint with Blue paint forever. How the hell would you get rid of it? I don't have any experience with the GT rye, but I used some Aurora Go...
