Re: Off-Season: Interest in Really Learning to Read Labels Well?

Andy, maybe it would make sense to bring the prodiamine discussion into this thread.

Re: Prodiamine question on app rates

I didn't see anything that was a bad conversion between weight and volume - can you point out the suspected problem? The first screen shot shows 1lb/acre is 0.37oz/k and 1 teaspoon and the other shows 1lb/acre is 0.4oz/acre and 1.5 teaspoon. Sorry, the first one actually says 1lb/acre is 0.37oz/k a...

Re: Prodiamine question on app rates

oz is a unit of weight, tablespoon is volume, both would work but I found using a measuring spoon is easier than a weight scale. Edit: conversion between weight and volume is not as straightforward because of the unknown density, they made things easier by including both on the label. Makes sense. ...

Re: Prodiamine question on app rates

Ok, I finally have some time to figure this out. After carefully reading the specimen label a few times, I think that I had the application rate correct and the label takes into account the concentration. My plan this coming season is to put down 0.25oz/k in two applications giving 0.50oz for the ca...

Re: Weed ID help

Looks like a match... thanks Andy! Triclopyr seems to be the solution. I applied today using Ortho CCO RTS (8% Triclopyr @ 5 oz per 2 gallons in a backpack sprayer) and spot sprayed. I plan to hit it again in 2 weeks weather permitting. Assuming I got the treatment correct, is this reasonable this t...

Weed ID help

I'm trying to figure out this weed and any help is welcome... I seems to have recently popped up everywhere or maybe I just noticed it. Nonetheless it is thriving. I'm guessing oxalis or chickweed, so I sprayed with Triclopyr today and plan to hit it again in 2 weeks. https://i.postimg.cc/hQ7PFNwc/I...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?

Mulched leaves and sprayed CCO. almost 60 degrees here after cold freezing rain all day yesterday. Hopefully, I'll be able to spray CCO again in 2 weeks.

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?

All snow melted. I cut the lawn today mulching leaves and checking for growth. No growth, so I put down 2lbs/k of 48-0-0 urea and watered it in.

New blades on the tractor this morning and back to mulching leaves. Cut down the ornamental grass. Time for an adult beverage!

Not too many weeds drop dead with a single application of Triclopyr. Do you have enough time to apply Triclopyr, let it work for 14 days, hit it again and let it work for 14 days -- and still have active, growing weeds (before all growth stops)?
Point taken Mr smarty pants ;)

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?

Moved leaves around from the big hardwoods that surround two sides of my yard. Everything was going well until I hit something and bent one of the blades on my tractor. Serious bend too. I'm still not sure what I hit, but my yard is a very uneven and it is hard to see what 2" of leaves on it.

it looks like Nov is not bad for ground ivy control by using Triclopyr.
Thanks Mochi! I was thinking of spot application of Triclopyr today and this is helpful. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Re: Frost/Freeze Right On Time

It looks like I had my first hard frost last night. Woke up to a nice white lawn. The predicted first frost was October 20th and we seem to have had light frost a few weeks ago (Oct 30th). Hard to say what it all means to my plan, but I stopped Milo and micros back in early Sept, and now I am waitin...

Re: Heads-Up: It's Time to Talk "Leaf Mulching"!

The wind is blowing hard in Southcentral PA today and it is clearing off most of the remaining leaves. I mulched a ton on Thursday ahead of heavy rains Friday. Most of that mulch was quickly "processed" by the microherd with help from the rain. Today, I'm looking at a fresh crop of leaves to mulch a...

Re: When do you turn off your outside faucets?

I'm a little late, but did it this morning. I've had to pay to replace too many times :). For the less initiated, I turn on the inside shutoff valve off and open the outside faucet.
