Re: PGR (generic Primo) available in small bottles again

Thanks, Green, for the update on availability of "generic Primo" (plant growth regulator). Wow, that stuff is still expensive, though! Hopefully the price will continue to come down with the generic available. Looking at application rates, it seems that the rate for KBG is 0.60 fl oz per application...

My experience was that the flat rate shipping boxes were cheapest. A small flat rate box could probably hold two samples.
+1 on the above. I have generally placed up to three samples, each in a sandwich-sized ziploc bag, in such USPS flat rate shipping boxes in the past.

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Started actually thinking about 2022 lawn maintenance for the first time this year. Other than playing "pick up sticks" a couple weeks ago, the lawn hasn't received any attention since last fall, and 2021 was a bit of a lesser-maintenance year for us. So far today, we've mowed the lawn at it's "firs...

Re: Prosperity KBG - where art thou?

Nick, have you been able to find any Prosperity KBG seed to purchase? If not, how much do you need? I have a fair bit left from a couple years ago and would be willing to sell you some if you don't mind trying seed that would be three years old before you sow it this fall.

Re: Do you need to aerate your lawn?

Thanks for sharing this article. It's good to have the perspective from a golf course superintendent. Interestingly, though, he doesn't mention one of the reasons for not aerating that is the most important from my perspective -- aeration tends to encourage the spread of weedy grasses such as Poa an...

Re: Poor kill with Compare N Save Glyphosphate

I have also used Compare 'n Save Glyphosate with good success. DevilDawg18 is correct that the spray rate is pretty high for glyphosate. It's also a comparatively slow kill, with a week being typical. However, if anything looks wounded from glyphosate, it's a terminal illness - my experience is that...

Re: Transplanting Sod

Yes, I've removed sections of sod that were infested with Poa trivialis and replaced with sod cut out of good sections of lawn which was being repurposed. The approach works. You want to use the deepest sod depth that you can handle, want to transplant the sod as soon as possible (ideally the same d...

Re: Anyone have luck with Baystate Fertilizer in MA?

Just wanted to mention that MWRA again has stock of Bay State Fertilizer, and that lately they seem to have been semi-regularly updating their web site with status. I called this morning to confirm status, paid online, and the two of us drove on down to get it. We ended up taking two vehicles to be ...

Ken-n-Nancy's Lawn Journal 2021-08-11 - Lilac Area Reno - One Year Later

Today, after a particularly hot stretch of weather, I couldn't resist taking a pic to document the "after" view of our renovation of this area of our lawn. The goal was to take our last section of "northern mix" lawn and replace it with all-KBG (a 50/50 blend of Prosperity and Bewitched.) It is now ...

Re: Bayer to Discontinue RoundUp Sales in US?

I don't know which specific article(s) Andy read, but most of the ones I've seen appear to have been derived from this July 29th press release from Bayer , who purchased Monsanto in 2018. A key sentence is near the end of the press release, which says that "the company and its partners will replace ...
