Re: Hydrangea help
Very late to the game but the regimen I follow for hydrangea that works well is i apply the espoused soil acidifier around the root zone in spring and then Avery 6 weeks after until Labor Day and I get nice blue blooms. About every 1-2 weeks I hit them with the mocracke grow bloom booster. Hydrangea...

To be clear it kills purple nutsedge but not labeled for yellow nutsedge.
LadyAnglesey wrote: ↑August 11th, 2018, 6:22 pmYou can use Tenacity now and/or at seeding. It's the one pre-emergent that won't harm seeds. BUT will harm germinating seedlings. Folk have had good luck prohibiting POA with it and it also kills nutsedge.

I don’t know of any blue kbg I always like it for the dark green.
As I understand the reason it’s called Kentucky bluegrass is because of the blue flowers it produces when it’s ful height and uncut like in pastures...

Re: KBGKA side yard new lawn
I bought 350 ft of Pennington wood fiber seed blankets to help on my slopes and near the driveway for places where I have bare spots and the major water run off areas I probably should have used this during the spring seeding. Hoping this helps my success rate of germination. Still waiting on contra...

Re: Just moved, what to do first??
FYI if your septic tank is shallow it can burn the lawn in summer in that area. I had that issue with my first home and added about 6 inches of loam and had it graded in that area as I got tired of a rectangular dead zone every year. The top of tank was only 6 inches below grade. YMMV Start with wee...

Assuming it’s not Super hot weather 10–14 days you zap it again.
Quinclorac can miss CG it’s good at taking out Small and large CG plants but in the 3-5 tiller range they for some reason can make it through so the second app usually is when you finish them off.

Latest update. Hers the front yard 14 days after overseed. Sparse germination but had two huge downpours that wreaked havoc on me. In the second picture you can see my drainage swale along the very front of the property that slope is steeper than it looks so I’m trying to nurse the spreading along a...

I’m curious if Lawns get this once and done or can it come back year after year?
I hear you on the frustration I have lots of hours and money into my lawn and still have issues such as weeds to resolve so the result isn’t correlated to the input.... yet

FYI just because something lights up doesn’t mean you’ll get 100% kill.
It’s usually a good idea to spot treat what lights up with a second application so you get a good kill.

Re: Should I roto-till before renovation
It makes a mess. If that is that bad first if you get a good kill it gets easier to rake out dead thatch. If it’s reallt that bad get a dethatcher to break it up either rent one or buy one to pull behind your garden tractor. Rotorilling will turn up rocks and other stuff below the surface. As I said...

We should link up one day. I’m not far from UNH. The rain messed up the concrete pad timing so it comes down to the weather. My front lawn is less than ideal but it is spreading and the weeds will get taken care of this fall and then with preM next spring. I should have done an all PRG lawn for a ye...

My contractor is behind and now the work won’t be done until the 15th or so and can’t properly fallow as they will be running equipment over that are and then the irrigation guy will disturb the soil as well.
Will have to push back my seed down date to get a proper kill off any existing weeds.

Crabgrass vs Dallas Grass
Found a great website with pictures comparing CG and dallus grass.
The key seems to be the seeds on that stalks.

Re: Need help identifying weed / weeds please!
My experience is mature CG needs two shots of quinclorac or tenacity to get it all. I have never had luck with a single application kill Even going heavy on the Spray directly on the plants Plaintains that are mature same kinda thing. Plain, ugly crabgrass. Its so tough to kill right now in my area....

I have a John Deere rider and use a level deck. I go by eyeball of the cut and it’s either from going to fast or blades not sharp that result in shaggy cut. Just go by temps once they drop off you can give it a try. I’m just sharing personal experiences that miracle gro lawn food does wonders for getting kbg to spread. If you have hydrangeas or other flowing shrubs use their bloom booster fert and it’s incredible how well it works. I’ll likely handfeed ...
