Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Finally dried out enough that I was able to take care of leaves yesterday. Crazy amount of rain the last two weeks of October has caused local lakes to rise well above typical spring runoff levels. First snow on the ground this morning too. Should get another chance at leaves again next week with a ...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

I overseeded my lawn Sept 4th with a sun and shade mixture from my local sod farm. Two weeks later I fertilized the lawn at bag rate with Scotts starter fertilizer. I have mowed at least 3 times and the grass looks great. Last week I applied Milo at the bag rate. The average frost date on Long Isla...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Last evening put down 1/2# N from 21-0-0 and received .4" rain this morning. Lawn is growing like crazy and finally got fed up with trying to keep it at 2-1/4" so raised it back up to 3" and there it will stay.

Not sure about getting an extended fall this year, but so far well above normal.

Looks to me that they are quoting those seeding rates for average Joe home owner to have decent success.

Re: What next for pre-m application for reno

If you do the second Tenacity app the first week of October that should give you coverage for a couple more weeks at least. By then a pre-emergent may not be needed. Still, I'd have that dimension handy in case October temps are warmer than usual.

That is doing great for 34 days. Should fill in and look like a mature lawn yet this fall. :good:

Re: Fall Shedding

My front reno (Blue Velvet, Bewitched) is very thick and lowering the HOC makes the shedding much more pronounced. It will be another week at least before it starts to look nice again.

With the return of high temps I'd seriously consider adding a late afternoon irrigation to the schedule. Other then that, looking good!

Re: Greenrebellion's Fall 2017 Renovation

This is the kind of bleaching I am getting on my KBG. This shot pretty much has no Poa annua in it and is all KBG bleaching. Should I slow down my app frequency a bit or have others seen KBG bleach this much and do okay? https://s26.postimg.cc/xdwefbwmt/IMG_20170911_193718.jpg That's some well adva...

Ok, update. Going to return the 2,4-d, and will buy new speedzone to replace my 5+ year old bottle. Going to use quinclorac as a spike.
A friend with 40K of no-mix put down Q4 Plus a while back. I'm anxious to get over there and see if it had any effect on the Oxalis as he has a bunch of it.

Re: SNOWBOB11 Bewitched Monostand Renovation 2017

Looking good! You mat be mowing more than you think before it goes to sleep for the winter.

That area by the fence looks like it stays damp with little light penetration (based on the mold on the fence boards) which could have created a problem with germination.

Ah, I did not know about the synergy effect. Was thinking the opposite.

I'm still shaking my head at the amount that germinated despite the 4oz/A at seed down. Unbelievable!

Re: How important first cut.....

Waiting another week until more grows out won't make any difference at this point. 30 days in is usually about the earliest even with excellent germination and no S& P.
