Re: Advice needed - bewitched

....At 1" your roots are pretty shallow... the odds are you'll have an issue with most varieties of KBG if you are mowing that low (even Midnight)... JG raises a good issue IMHO. At 1inch, and the kind of sun you seem to have, I'd expect a patchy look, unless your irrigation is perfect. Summmer pat...

Re: Tenacity and Pre-M schedule post germination....

On my 2014 reno I put Dimension down 2 weeks after my 30 day Tenacity app (thanks JG), which in this case fell on Sept 10th.. My 2015 summer reno was a different story with lots of Poa pressure during germination (yeah I'm in Michigan). In that case I did 3x Tenacity apps in July and Dimension in mi...

Re: HRX217VKA for mulching leaves only

Possibly overkill depending on how deep a layer of leaves you do at a time. I have the HRR216 and can do 4" of leaves with 3 passes to get them to fingernail size or a bit bigger. Works best at lower cutting heights of 2" to 2-1/2".

Re: Setting up Sprinklers, how much to keep seed moist?

Didn't say it had to be done at seeding although most do the night before as a rule. After that the question is exactly when to have good moisture levels. I tend err on the side of caution. I'm sure there are (most likely) other factors involved but have never had a case of sprout and pout with 4 r...

Re: Setting up Sprinklers, how much to keep seed moist?

I use a 2 hour cycle on hot windy days to cover peak evaporation periods. 11AM, 1, 3 and 5PM at 5 min ea. Other wise a 4 hour cycle works. Also mind the 4-6" depth. If mother nature is not cooperative with rain give it a good soaking once in a while to maintain deeper moisture levels.

Re: Lime. How much and what kind?? Non Logan test attached.

Don't know why they are even recommending lime with that cation ratio.. A Ca to mg ratio of 7 to 1 is what is strived for with the resultant ph of 6.2 being as good as it gets.

Sounds good. If the weather cools off like October temps are app to do, go with the 7 day interval on the last ones.

Re: Tenacity application timing for reno

There is the possibility of runoff on sloped ground with heavy watering which would cause lower areas where it pools to receive a heavier application but other than that the day before should not be a problem.

Re: Spreading only 3lbs of KBG seeds....

In the past I mixed seed with clean saw dust from the high school wood shop. 1 part seed to approx 3-4 parts saw dust (half of a grocery bag for 3# of seed) worked well with my old rotary spreader. Last reno was with a crank hand spreader which worked extremely well as 2 passes put down almost the e...

Great thread especially since now we have Tenacity in the arsenal. Re: SNOWBOB11 Bewitched Monostand Renovation 2017

Look like you are on track for your seed down date. Although not normally mentioned on here I have had good germination and early growth rates by putting down starter at half rate 2 weeks before seed down and the other half at seeding.
