Re: An Alumnus Returns to ST6
I know I'm late to the party and don't post much here anymore either, but you deserve a hearty welcome back Morph. I always enjoyed your wisdom and everything else that went with it. I think a bit of us died when you left, it's great to see you posting and I can't wait to enjoy reading your posts ye...

Re: Dumped my Urea this morning
Hey Morph! Good to see you back here. :) The growth was really really slow, which leads me to believe the roots wanted N, and not the shoots. ....and the one time 3-4 years ago I dumped real early my lawn was fantastic the following Spring. But yes, Andy is correct, trying to convince myself. Seeing...

Dumped my Urea this morning
Western Massachusetts. I haven't seen much top growth these past 2 weeks, too many morning frosts to count, in fact I don't think I've seen any top growth this past week. Good soaking rain in the forecast for this afternoon, so I said "this is it". I'm probably a bit early, may still see some top gr...

Re: First Frost for Massachusetts yet?
Watch your rain forecast too. I'd rather be a week off and get the right rain to wash in the Urea, than wait too long. My Urea lock last year in MA was right around Thanksgiving, I'm guessing based on the weather patterns we may have top growth into December this year, heck we all mowed on Christmas...

Re: No let up to heat wave, skip fall fertilizer program?
Western Mass here, same "extreme drout" conditions. 3/4+ of my lawn went dormant for the first time in 6 years. Couple inches a few days ago helped a tiny bit. Some green showing through the brown. My plan is to nurse it back with milo only this month. If a few significant rains come I may go back t...

Re: Driveway sealers?
Doing the same research here. Never used any of the stuff, our driveway is chipping away and looks to need a coat. My research so far has pointed to getting something Acrylic.
The new Rustoleum sealer reviews are boom or bust, nothing in-between.

Mine looks a lot like that, some spots better, some worse, but mostly like that.
Since being on this site I don't think I've experienced such a drought here in the Northeast, my lawn has always weathered it quite well, not this one.

?
One of the key benefits of Tenacity is weed supression during seeding.
Tenacity did take out my nimblewill in one app, took at least a year to come back, and was not ever as strong.

Re: To water or not to water?
Thats what my KBG looks like that I planted last year too. I'm pissed because I used a LOT of added topsoil and compost. Driving around town here in WMass, 96% of lawns are drought stressed. My lawn is actually handling it pretty well sans a few spots. Something coming tomorrow, not sure how much th...

Re: Anyone ever SKIP pre-em's?
Ah, ty. Great discussion on the second link. Glad to see I'm not alone in the experimentation. I'm going to guess I will be fine with the front lawn. My back lawn is not as thick, and I will be battling it and regretting my decision. I know it can lie dormant for years. I'd have to say though I have...

Re: Selling House FSBO - Anyone Done It?
Hey Cool! Congrats fellow Western Mass lawn geek.
Was going to say we had success buying and selling without out an agent as well.
I'm a DIYer, in my personal opinion I have little use for agents...the one house we did buy with an agent, he really didn't do anything for us.

Anyone ever SKIP pre-em's?
 Hi everyone, haven't been around in a while. Something about 3 kids, 2 full time jobs, other hobbies, yadda yadda. After many years of BL/ATY regimens and advice, my lawn is virtually weed free and extremely thick, sans the goose grass around the outside. Part on account of time, part on acc...

Re: Trophy mole/gopher thread
I recently tried Talpirid, 1/2 box or 10 worms into their burrows as instructions said. Didn't seem to work at all, or I have more than I thought.
Going to use the rest of the box this weekend.
Any other suggestions on how to catch moles/voles?

Re: Forsythia is in bloom, time to drop your pre-m LOL
Next 7 days forecast here is mid-high 50's with no frost, lows mid 30's.
This is more crazy than the mowing in March we had to do 2-3 years back.

You laugh....here in New England, my grass hasn't grown in 2-3 weeks now, frost every morning. 50's last saturday and 50's today, I swear I'm seeing top growth again.

Re: Winterizing mower - run dry or not?
I run mine dry and spray a shot of WD-40 in the gas tank. Saw this trick after a mechanic on Garage Journal forum said has worked well for him for years. Also has worked well for me going on 3-4 years now. Ethanol disease is the WORST. All my Stihl 2 strokes had it one year. I always use Startron or...

Re: Why is my new lawn yellowing???
Changing my answer after I noticed something: The part of my new seeding that isn't yellow and is growing well is the part I accidentally hit with the regular fall fert when doing the rest of the lawn. I think it may be starving a bit. Seedlings hungry!!!!
