2 Suggestions from the MA Newbie (who is going to try 3,000 sft after Irene comes through):
1) Organic compost as a topdress/rake in for seed. I'm going with bags of Moo doo.

2) Tenacity. Order it Asap.

Re: Milorganite vs Synthetics-Studies?
Welp. Start perusing the organic section of the board. Although I'm in Mass I'm far from a hippie, but lawns need that organic stuff. Not milorganite but SBM, but check out this thread: http://aroundtheyard.com/organic/does-organic-really-work-t4659.html My plan is professional slow release syntheti...

Re: Tenacity on new Rye lawn
I'm a newBie but everything I have researched and read over the past month indicates Tenacity is the one to use to beat down the weeds while seeding. I'm using the same strategy as above more or less, Grass safe WBG for the kill, then while I'm seeding I'm going to open up the bottle of Tenacity.

Re: Help with Pre-M
(total newB here) Dimension is a pre-emergent isn't it? will it do anything against existing crabgrass?
I did dimension in the spring, had sporadic crabgrass by summer. I think I may double up and do a spring + late spring dimension application.
