Re: How is everyone making out with disease this year?
Very wet spring and summer, rains almost every day. I treat my front and side yard (12,000 sqft), 95% disease free, doing good. Back yard (20,000 sqft) untreated has disease, probably 70% disease free. Constant rain and with hot North Carolina humid air, what are you going to do. My main issue now ...

Re: Overseeding area impacted by fungus
Did the grass actually die or did the blades just go brown? You can treat areas with fungus with no issues even on an overseed. Thank you for the guidance regarding no issues with an overseed. I believe that some spots hD grass actually die as there was some black and greasy matter at the roots (py...

Re: surfactant
Same here. Surfactant additions aren't exactly what I'd call exacting. Us? We could do with an evening out of the rainfall, thank you. Nine inches in the last week means any more means severe flooding. Send it my way, we are in a drought and hard to keep up. Ditto on the glug. Add a few ounces-ish ...

Re: Sulphur vs pH
Nobody's saying your eyes are lying. We believe you. Just like I should hope you believe me when I say the kelp I spray around really does have an impact on the plants--a significant one. And like you, I drop it in the irrigation system. I'm hurling the stuff around like mad. The water coming out o...

Re: Sulphur vs pH
Guys, I apply it with a dial and spray hose end sprayer. To think none of it is direct soil applied doesn’t make sense. It’s not like it all lands on the grass blades and nothing in the soil. My eyes aren’t lying to me. We shall see in my next soil tests next spring. I’ve also bought the RGS humic-1...

Re: Sulphur vs pH
Here is why ST6 isn't building products like the Huma Gro products shown into the Interpretation plans we do for members: Foliar applications of any nutrient need to be done are far-lower application rates -- far, far lower than soil-applied nutrients. This is because the plants (grass) weren't des...

Re: Sulphur vs pH
It's not very much, all things considered, and easily counterbalanced and overwhelmed by the calcium you've dropped. For the most part, it's safe to ignore the minor amounts of sulfur applied in spray like this. Even ferrous sulfate spray is pretty minor, and that's incredibly acidic. Looking at th...

Re: Anyone still dropping Milo?
What's "PFAS?" Heavy metals? I am a huge believer in Milo. I spot applied a heavy dose in an area that I was trying to thicken up following last years renovation, and not only did the area fill in nicely (which it might have done anyway) but it turned a much darker green then the untreated area. It...

Re: Anyone still dropping Milo?
No more Milo for me. I’m more into humic acid products now.
I don’t like the PFAS issues that similar products have been found to contain.

Sulphur vs pH
I’ve been micro feeding my lawn with HumaGro products. Since my soil test last year where I had a pH of 5.2 I’ve applied lime at 20lbs per thousand x2 and two applications of Sol-u-cal Most recent calcitic lime app was this past weekend with plan to retest next spring and see where I’m at. The micro...

Re: Post emergent crabgrass killer approved in NY
The real story is crazy and convoluted. Quinclorac is NOT prohibited in NY. To prove that that is true, look at any bottle of WBG + Crabgrass Killer in NY. Yup, Quinclorac is right on the label. Because of potential issues with Quinclorac reaching the water table, it is limited in the size of bottl...

Re: Can you apply both Prodiamine and Dimension during the same season?
Yes and common. Dithiopyr/Dimension in spring as it’s good against crabgrass. Prodiamine in mid to late August due to Long residual to get through winter. I don’t like year round prodiamine as if you need to reseed the Long residual can bite you and it is a root clipper so I like the dual approach

Here are a few articles detailing the 'genuine risk' of indiscriminate use of roundup and other common herbicides. One can easily destroy crops and plants of their own and neighbors. https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/protecting_tomatoes_from_herbicide_drift https://www.dtnpf.com/agriculture/web/ag/crop...

You have to either commit to the watering to keep it green or if not then dormancy it is. No magic potion with cool season grass and consistent 85+ weather.

Re: Irrigation after Serenade?
I think what I am seeing is rust. But I will keep an eye on it. Any opinion about whether rain will wash it off the grass blades? Rain will wash off the serenade. If you micro feed the lawn with something like liquid iron that has Low dose N you can try and push the growth slightly. I’m not concern...

Re: Round Up Alternative
I was also considering the Natria concentrate, Ive used the spray in garden beds with good success on grasses but just curious if anyone has done a blanket spray with it for a reno. If not I may just have to be the guinea pig. You could always try and burn the lawn with a massive dose of urea lol O...

Re: Irrigation after Serenade?
I sprayed serenade and we had a torrential downpour about 4-5 hours later. Did that likely wash the serenade off the grass blades? I sense disease pressure. Should I reapply? If you have active disease it’s likely too late. I went systemic and stopped mine. The the most expensive part of having a h...
