Re: Toro Super Recycler - Aftermarket Hi-Lift blades?
I was always under the assumption that high lift blades can't really be used to mulch. Will you have to switch even you're mulching vs discharging? I've wonder about that myself. I picked up the high-lift blade Tuesday and did lots of experimenting, all with a 3.25" HOC (notch "E"): 1) High-lift bl...

Re: Finish cut?
Oh, do I have photos... I need to take new ones. I'd do it now, but the light's nearly gone in an incoming thunderstorm. There are no lines, it looks like a dark green carpet, and there is not one blade out of place . Olivia is off-duty until Saturday, when she'll cycle twice. https://i.postimg.cc/...

Do you have any photos of what that looks like?MorpheusPA wrote: ↑September 14th, 2021, 4:39 pmWelcome to the addiction.
Now that I have a robot, it does this automatically by repeatedly mowing over every spot several times a week. I find I enjoy that look.
I'm afraid if I didn't have my lines I'd get lost spreading and spraying.

Finish cut?
Is anyone cutting their lawn twice? It's never been something I felt I "had" to do. But I'm starting to think it's necessary. Not sure if it's because this is my first year with irrigation or if it's because I'm getting more persnickety with age. What I'm seeing and/or becoming more in-tuned to is t...

Re: Toro Super Recycler - Aftermarket Hi-Lift blades?
Follow up: I answered my own question. Toro part number 108375903 is a high lift blade. I'll be picking one up tomorrow.

Toro Super Recycler - Aftermarket Hi-Lift blades?
Has anyone successfully found a hi-lift blade that will work on a Toro Super Recycler? The mower mulches great in stock trim. However, it doesn't have much suction, even in side discharge mode. I have grass that gets matted down (intersections where wheel tracks crisscross from rotating mow directio...

My Toro dealer is also a SCAG dealer. They're going to let me demo a new SFC30! Sweet!
Mrs. Hammbone just rolls her eyes.
+1 for buying from a dealer and not Home Depot!

Difficulty cutting thick lawn
Im curious what folks are using for walk behind / push mowers in thick / healthy KBG lawns. I struggle this time of year getting a good cut and keeping up. I had a 2018 Honda HRX that was horrible at cutting thick lawn at or above 3.5". I'm on my 2nd season with my Toro Super Recycler and its strugg...

Re: Prodiamine fall apps?
This is fantastic news! I'm going to give it a shot.
Knock-on-wood, I haven't seen POA A or T in my lawn since we've been here, but I've seen POA A up the street. I'll have to keep a look-out. (foxtail and goosegrass are my main problems)

Prodiamine fall apps?
I've always just applied Prodiamine in the spring and applied at a rate to get me thru July, leaving a window for reseeding if necessary.
I've heard of fall applications, but the product label doesn't talk about that. I'm interested in learning more.

Re: Grinding Cracked Corn?
Thanks for the replies. I found a couple options that look promising, but not sure i want to store either of them. (And they're a little pricey) https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/ama-usa-electric-grain-grinder-13-gal https://www.premier1supplies.com/p/bravo-feed-grinder I left a message with...

Re: Grinding Cracked Corn?
I don't, but ask your mill if they'll grind it for you--mine will. Free. I once asked for a slightly finer grind, they actually did it to my specs (I had no idea what I was asking for, I just didn't want whole corn, which was all they had at that time). As far as corn plants, they definitely won't ...

Grinding Cracked Corn?
I started using cracked corn this year. Feed mill is only 5-6 blocks from my house. My only complaint is that corn plants grow in the yard (and the dogs try to eat it after it first goes down). I've searched for sources of cornmeal in bulk in my area, but it's not available. I found a source 3 state...

Re: New Install! Now what?...
Update - June, 14 2021 As most of the Midwest knows, we're experiencing a heck of a hot dry spell. No rain in 16 days, and no "appreciable" rain in 26 days. Daytime high temps have been 85-92°F for the last 11 days. I have my new system set for ~.5" rain 3 days a week. Tues, Thurs, Sat. That's 1.5"...

Re: Losing color
Given your soil test results and calcareous soil scenario, the only thing I can see as being helpful for color would be foliar FAS treatments. I figured as much, and I have all the stuff to do it. However, with temps in the high-80's / low-90°F for the last week and foreseeable coming week(s), I'm ...

Losing color
This heat is brutal! As I've mentioned before, it's my first season with irrigation, and it's saving me right now. I'm not super happy with my color right now, and this loss of color appears to be typical in the summer. My lawn normally comes in pretty dark and spring green-up, then tends to lose co...

Insect / Spider Perimeter Treatment?
We seem to have a LOT of spiders. I know they have their place and eat other bugs. Can I do a perimeter treatment around the house and doorways? If so, what product should I use? I see Ortho makes a "Home Defense", but I'm not a fan of the hand pump, I'd rather buy something in concentrate and mix i...

Re: Angle Stripes?
As a follow up, I thought I'd share some first photos with the new angle. I need to do each direction a couple more times for it to start to pop (or install the striper). -One observation I made, that really stood out in these photos, is that I need to put my rows closer together for my 13-13-13 app...
