"Or 5 gallon bucket should go how far?"
Until it's empty. Once I emptied a bucket, I quit flinging.
I really never kept track. I just walked around flinging them until they were gone. I'd kind of note where I left off and start there the next time I got more grounds.

Re: Finally, seeds are down(Day 1)
Notice how every lawn on the street is brown from winter dormancy except one lawn. And look at the straight line going from brown to green in the last picture. You're either going to be real popular (hey how'd you do it?) or real unpopular (hey, how come you're making me look bad?) in your neighborh...

That's not KBG. I'm not sure of the exact cultivar, but I know it's a different variety of grass.

Re: Just landed a coffee grind source
I've never dried them and as many who remember me from a few years ago can attest, I've used a lot of coffee grounds on my lawn. I used different methods depending on whether I got the silver bags or the trash bags from Starbucks. When I got the silver bags, I'd just shake them a little as I swung t...

Re: cornmeal in spring after heavy snow
I think there's more involved than the number of days of snow cover. We've had our lawn buried in snow for at least 90 days without any snow mold. We got hit once, and I remember reading that conditions were right for it that year, but I forget what the conditions were because the article also menti...

Re: Snowpocalypse II (Electric Boogaloo)
My plane landed in ATL a little early last night, but the pilot got on and announced that they didn't have a gate for us. A little while later, he shut off the engines (never a good sign) and said we might be there a while. Fortunately, my flight to SLC was also delayed. We got to the gate and I mad...

Re: Snowpocalypse II (Electric Boogaloo)
"o my god is it ever going to end" Always has before. Heard that on the radio on the way back to the hotel this evening. The office (Springfield, MA) was almost empty yesterday, but it didn't even start snowing until around 4:30 in the afternoon. Maybe 1/2 inch or so. My wife said that it really cam...

Re: Snowpocalypse II (Electric Boogaloo)
I'm in Springfield, MA (flying in and out of Hartford, CT). They got maybe 1/2 inch to 1 inch last week. I was hearing all kinds of things about how they were expecting huge snow tomorrow and Thursday, so I checked weather.com and saw 3-5 inches. Then I overheard somebody say that the heavy snow is ...

Re: Organics in the spring
And here, where we often have snow covering the lawn into March or April, only the shady areas of my lawn have any snow on them. Even the places where I pile it when I shovel the drive have melted.

Re: Tonight Show: Jay or Conan?
I heard something on NPR the other day that started out with something like: "Leno is driving his audience away because nobody likes his jokes. Conan is driving his audience away because nobody gets his jokes. The kicker was that they ended it with something like "If you want to see how seasoned pro...

Re: planting clover seeds
I've planted it, but I got seed that was already inoculated. I spread it using a broadcast spreader.
I've put clover seed down twice. Once in a normal fall seeding and once in a late fall dormant seeding (this past November).

Re: Urban 'green' spaces may contribute to global warming
I suppose it all depends on how the lawn is maintained. I've never used a leaf blower. I mulch mow my leaves into the lawn. Even with mulch mowing my leaves, I think I only mowed 4 times last year. Fertilizer? I haven't used anything but coffee grounds for at least 5 years. And I didn't even use tho...

"Chlorine bleach and ammonia together has the same effect. (I speak from experience)"
Ouch! That produces a poisonous gas (it was used as a chemical weapon in WW I WW II).

Re: its a snowin'
Sometime in the first year or two that I lived in Utah, I went to work one nice sunny day and the parking lot was almost empty. The office was only about half full and stayed that way for a while. I finally asked somebody if it was a state holiday, and he said he was starting to wonder the same thin...

Happy Holidays
I'll be traveling tomorrow (okay, I guess it's today by now) and won't be on the computer much after that, so I wanted to extend holiday greetings to any and all who celebrate Christmas, New Year, or any other holiday in the coming days/weeks.

[haven't been able to load the BL site due to it dragging so slowly until now, thus the delay. But that's another thread] Well, it isn't geographically a big area. I'll have to defer to others. I've never used a pre emergent.
From what I understand, you shouldn't use a set date, but should base it on conditions. One indicator people use is to apply when the forsythia start to bloom.

My first thought was a stuck key, but that's much less likely when you get it while doing remote control. It could still be a possibility. I'm not sure how logmein handles the keyboard during remote sessions, so it's possible that it's getting both a delete (from a stuck key on her keyboard) and the...

That's especially true of new concrete. The first year or two, salt is really rough on concrete. After that, it's bad, but not as bad.GaryCinChicago wrote:Yes, very.lumangoy wrote:rock salt is bad for concrete?
