Re: Fertilizing TTTF
John_in_SC, thanks for reporting your no-N summer blend. Please consider starting a thread on that topic next spring; I think I would like to try that experiment myself. I did not add any fertilizer this past spring/summer and it did do better than the previous summer when I fed milo in May, but the...

Day 19: Baby's first haircut! ;) The third pic is a broadleaf weed that is responsible for 90% of the weed pressure I'm getting, mostly near driveway and curb but also out in the yard. Can someone ID that for me? https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-YqlWlScpaxg/ToXA4-22lTI/AAAAAAAAAXI/BVgX6fwUwT4/s64...

Re: fall overseeding, too late?
Then why dont the University AG depts and seed manufacturers promote earlier planting......so many planted here in rather hot August temps.....almost everything you read says FALL {which STARTS in late September} is the best time to plant? Astronomical fall starts at the autumn equinox, but meteoro...

Looks good chisey. Fusilade will help control the bermudagrass next spring. Are you in the State of Franklin or father southwest in East TN?

I decided to order my seed this year instead of buying it locally... I wanted to overseed with SRO's Defiance TTTF blend and could not locate any close, so I order 50lbs on Wednesday, it was delivered today (Friday)! Delivered cost was about $2/lb, local was $1.81/lb plus tax (about $2). Big box Reb...

I have sprayed it under white pines to kill some poison ivy and what not, the pines seem fine.

Re: Dave's LL Soil Report
Thanks guys. I will leave the Epsom salts in the bathroom and get the starter and milorganite! And sleep easy until next spring. I read here that it is a old wives tale that pine needles make a soil acidic. I have a ton of pine needles falling every year that get mulched in with everything else, so ...

Re: Dave's LL Soil Report
Thanks Morph. I actually broke down and added milorganite last weekend after I took this sample, figuring it would get a nice slow feeding for the next few weeks into early fall. I had not fed the lawn since last November since I am trying to discourage bermudagrass as a cultural practice recommende...

Dave's LL Soil Report
I have to admit I was expecting a lot worse than this report. At first glance by my novice eyes I think I have some Epson salt, phosphourous, and iron in my future. This is for my front/side lawns, lots of trees so I am growing TTTF with fine fescues in the heavily shaded areas. Area is 16,500 sf, lo...

Re: Yellow Nutsedge is driving me crazy!
Sedgehammer label recommendations are not to mow 2 days before or after and use the spreader sticker (non-ionic surfactant). That is how I applied Sedgehammer and that killed what came up in my lawn, I did not worry about watering it in. If the sedge is growing and the herbicide is applied correctly...

Thanks Andrew something another! The salt tolerance is really a good idea and hopefully can promote more recycled treated waste water for irrigation.

Re: Removing Wiregrass in TTTF
Fusilade label rate is 6 oz/acre for TTTF, mixed with 30 gallons per acre of water (plus 8 oz of NIS per 25 gallons of water). More like 0.2 oz per gallon. My sprayer has liter marks so I use 1.5 mL/L of Fusilade, 8.3 mL/L of Turflon Ester, and 2.5 mL/L of NIS (following the UTK herbicide option #1)...
