Re: How much fertilizer should I put down now
Well, whether or not Plan A works depends upon the type of nitrogen fertilizer applied. If the nitrogen is sufficiently slow-release so that the fertilizer applied in April becomes gradually available through April and May, and the September fertilizer becomes gradually available in September and O...

Re: Sept 20 Update - No signs of Life
TTTF Update. This is a pic from October 10. I'm really thankful for almost more than a week of warm weather! Today, the height of the grass is close to 2 inches tall. She's 15 days old today. I'm hoping it won't die in winter since roots will be shallow. The new grass in the hell strip covers 98% of...

Re: How much fertilizer should I put down now
I have another question. I'm wondering why 1 lb of nitrogen per 1,000 sqft is always used per single application. If we're targeting 4-6lbs a year, will there be any difference in the plans shown below? Is it because Plan A will most likely burn the lawn? +++++++ Plan A +++++++ April - 3 lbs of N pe...

Re: How much fertilizer should I put down now
I found ElburnCoop. I contacted them. They don't sell cgm anymore. That's weird.
I found another store in Saint Charles, CGM for $29. Still too much but way better than $46 from 2-3 years ago

Re: How much fertilizer should I put down now
Nope, nothing. Ever, really. And that urea drop in May was odd, and only because I didn't have the organics to drop in May--I would normally never do that, and would make May's application completely organic. For that matter, August would have had more in the way of organics as well, but I worked w...

Re: How much fertilizer should I put down now
Thanks a lot for sharing your log as well as the way you spread it out. That will really help me a lot! I will print it and stick it on my wall.
I noticed you didn't apply anything in the month of June and July. Cool!

Re: How much fertilizer should I put down now
Yep, irrigation handles that issue nicely. :-) Awesome! I did it yesterday! I finally understand how much nitrogen is put based on the the weight we are spreading in a 1,000 sqft lawn. I learned from this link how much nitrogen a grass needs per year. It's also important to know which grass type we...

Re: How much fertilizer should I put down now
No, if you water it in that is fine. I think Morpheus forgot you have irrigation. Gotcha! If I take your statement literally, that's an enormous leap of faith to expect grass that's one plant every 2 ft apart to turn back into a lawn through spreading. Many years. Of course, there's always a bit of...

Even if I water it right away?MorpheusPA wrote: ↑October 8th, 2020, 12:58 amJust hold off on that until just before rain. Otherwise, you risk off-gassing the nitrogen to the atmosphere, at least in part, and burning the grasses that are exposed to it, at least a little.

Late and unexpected front lawn reno update
I've been waiting and waiting and it's been more than a month, my front kbg lawn hasn't got out of dormancy yet. It's been 10 days now since I dropped the tall fescue seeds. I was so worried since I was so late in this unexpected reno. I was also worried since Sunday and Monday, the temps reached a ...

How much fertilizer should I put down now
I've already applied grub killer 2 weeks ago. I'm seeing grass poking out of the dead hay maybe every 2 feet apart. We all know that KBG is extremely good in spreading. I've witnessed it. I would like to know how much fertilizer I should put per 1000 sqft so that those grass that survived will be th...

haha, she's always coldMorpheusPA wrote: ↑September 30th, 2020, 8:44 pmI think I dated Polar Vortex. Emotionally distant, often cold? Yeah.
I'm hoping the warm weather extends to November. I remember there was a year where temp for a week around November reached 60s. Then the following year, it happened in February again. Snow melted.

Re: Sept 20 Update - No signs of Life
This is awesome news for me! Second half of October will be warmer. It's just a forecast and I'm hoping they're right. For the last 3-4 years, it's been warmer. However, this pattern sometimes also makes extremely cold temperature around 3rd week of January to 2nd week of February called Polar Vorte...
