2015 Logan Labs Report

Hello, Attached is the 2017 soil report from Logan Labs for recommendations. Thank you in advance. This is approx. 5k yard, sodded in November of 2010 (new construction - was farm land, though I do not know if crop land or pasture). With luck - and attention - this time the correct Logan Labs soil t...

Re: Triv?

Your profile says "overseed: Kentucky Bluegrass". When was that and what kinda of Kentucky Bluegrass(es) did you overseed (and from what vendor)? eg. Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass from SeedSuperStore or Scotts Midwest Mix from Home Depot? By the way I thought those were pics of my yard. Triv and Poa ...

My understanding is that it is absent on Kentucky Bluegrass, which is what I am seeing (I pulled more and checked again last night ... same th...

So, this is something new. We had very little snow over the winter and something like 19 straight months of above average temperatures by month for the Twin Cities. March and early April were above normal air temperatures and then normal air temps for the past three weeks with a lot of rain (about 4...

Re: Put a Fork In It (and Then Grade It)

It's about context .... B. It still looks good, a darker green than some others around here this late in the year and I could push the reflective poles in the ground by hand pretty far this week (for you in the south, we put those up along the street to try and keep the snow plows in the street). Fi...

Re: Last N App in Minneapolis

None of the landscappers around here will schedule irrigation system blowouts past after Oct. .. Why is that? Around here most have had the service by late October. I serviced mine Friday a week ago. I still see the service being done though. My first frost average is 10/6 and - though rare and con...

Just east of St. Paul ... dropped on the 17th in the dark before the rain hit on the 18th. Top growth had stopped for my lawn sometime the ten before then (last cut). None of the landscappers around here will schedule irrigation system blowouts past after Oct. 31st (most push for early- to mid-Octob...

Heh ... we might be waiting for the snow to clear next week to drop in the Twin Cities. (Air temps are supposed to drop down into the 30s with rain-turning-to-snow - heavy accumulations NW of the TC - on Friday).

Oh, Minnesota.

I have a lot of worms which is great but also probably what is bringing all the raccoons to my lawn
The reality is that we are more about soil management than turf management.

Re: Difficulty Locating Urea Fertilizer in MN

We have quite a few members in the Twin Cities area. I know I've seen mention from some of them about applying urea that they purchased in 50-pound bags for cheap (boatdrinksq5 comes to mind). Hopefully one of them will see your post and let you know where you can buy some! You definitely don't nee...

Ended up going with Best Irrigation Inc. They are installing it as we speak. They usually use toro controllers but gave me the ok to get the Rachio and discounted the installation cost. https://s9.postimg.cc/vv18e16wr/20160809_134723.jpg [ Post made via Android ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/im...

Re: My wife approved of a sprinkler system!

Does your neighborhood have a NextDoor site? On ours, the members aren't shy about letting others know which services providers are good and who truly sucks. I have a guy I trust for repairs, but not sure if he goes that far west. And I have a guy I would stay away from (our builder dumped him for a...

Northern Turf

Was in Green Bay over the weekend and they are getting the turf at Lambeau Field ready for pre-season. They rip out and re-seed for every season, according to the guy showing us around. It is 100% KBG with synthetic fibers woven in to stabilize it (I swear he said the number of synthetic fibers is i...

Re: Yard being treated by company - left yard yellow

You don't happen to home brew, by chance? Something tells me you'd be a natural. I did a beer last fall but it didn't turn out too well, I'm more into making cider. Your DIY plumbing skills would serve you well should you return to brewing. Haved played with ciders ... want to move to meads, but ho...
