Re: Grassy Weed ID - Poa A or Poa T?
Looks like poa annua to me. Germinates in the Fall, now! And manifested in the Spring. I'm new to this but would put down a pre emergence ASAP to address problems next spring. Tenacity, Barricade or Dimmension perhaps. Others will chime in.

Re: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
I sang a chorus of "I'm Dreaming of a White Columbus Day" as I watched my mesotrione application from last Friday start to kick in.

Re: Tenacity kill rate is low
I just used the EarthWay S25 to blanket spray tenacity over about 18000 sq feet. Took a bit less than an hour altogether with 3, six gallon mixes in the sprayer.

Re: News Flash! New York Times Likes Mulching Leaves!
I grew up firmly convinced that the keys to a nice lawn were core aeration, 4 step programs, and raking those acidic oak leaves. And the only connection I made between tenacity and lawn care was the tenacious perseverance needed to constantly move the sprinkler so you could keep the top quarter inch...

Re: Looking at Lawns in my Neighborhood...
Interesting thread! I live in a development that was built in the late '50s. Acre lots or a bit larger and many mature trees (100 year old white oak, black oak, pin oak, etc). Most of the lawns are the original northern mix although maybe 20 percent were redone at some point. The ones redone are mos...

Re: EarthWay S25 Tenacity spray question
Thanks Envy, I used the grey nozzle at setting number one. I ended up pretty close to 1 gallon per 1000 sq ft. I did find myself walking fairly fast.

Re: EarthWay S25 Tenacity blanket spray update
So today I used the EarthWay S25 for a blanket spray of Tenacity. I ended up doing approximately 18,000 sq ft. I think the S25 might have a larger diameter wheel than the S15, I didn't find it so bad to push at all, although I wouldn't want to do it all day every day. This was certainly much quicker...

Re: Scott's Starter Fert w/ Weed Preventer Affecting New Gra
I over seeded a northern mix into a northern mix lawn on august 27, using Starter with mesotrione. As I said in another thread, it hit turned the existing FF a bit white as well as some PR and any weeds, and the FF seedlings too. The whitening did fade and it's okay except for a spot that the spread...

Re: Mesotrione effect on annual rye...
The tenacity label says you can use it at a weaker level for FF but it did whack mine a bit, it's mostly coming back though, for better or worse.

Re: Mesotrione effect on annual rye...
Funny you say that Boat, I'm actually trying to decide whether to not go over the fine fescue area so it would recover or go over it with the tenacity that would further stress it and presumably allow the KBG to take over. I don't like FF but sort of let myself get talked into a mix since I was over...

Re: Mesotrione effect on annual rye...
The tenacity label says it is safe for perennial rye (at a reduced rate), and safe for a number of other grasses such as KBG, TTTF, and some others. No mention of annual rye. It did bleach my fine fescue that was In my mix, as I expected and as is cautioned on the label.

Re: EarthWay S25 Tenacity spray question
Thanks Hoosier, good tip on the extra dilution and going over it twice. Glad to hear the dye marker shouldn't stain the brick. Mighty, yea, it's a lot but it can't be worse than a tank backpack. Maybe a tow behind is in the cards down the road. I do generally cut the lawn by hand but occasionally is...

EarthWay S25 Tenacity spray question
I didn't know whether to add this to the EarthWay sprayer review or start a new topic. Anyway, I ordered and received the S25 but haven't used it yet except to test iron the driveway to try to get a feel for the spray distribution. I saw on the other thread that Morpheus used the middle nozzle that ...

Re: To use older fertilizer or not, that is the question
Thanks Boats, I am going to head to JDL in the next few days and was trying to figure out if this stuff is useful, even if not ideal. I appreciate the input and will use it accordingly.

To use older fertilizer or not, that is the question
I've searched and read many of the threads on fertilizing but can't seem to find one on the use of older fertilizers. I joined the forum a few months ago and am just starting to learn. I realize that weed and feed and "step" products have some shortcomings. However, I have the following that my dad ...

Re: Gryd's 2014 Front Yard Renovation Take 2
Gryd, when you say that when you accidentally overlapped seed and it came in too dense, what is the concern with the density? Is it no air flow and possible disease or competition at a later date among seedlings? Thanks, and great job!

Gendel, okay, stupid people are ruining the Eco system by allowing deer to go uncontrolled and destroy other species of animals and plants. I stand corrected.

Re: ericg's Backyard Reno 2014 - NJ (TTTF/KBG) - Day 13 pics
Thanks Hoosier. My wife argues that raking disturbs the soil too so why not aerate? I'm explaining that that is old school and the folks on this site as well as most University ex tension sites agree you don't aerate unless you are a golf course with massive resources, and a massive budget for mater...
