Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Someone mentioned dissolving urea in water and applying it that way. I read a few threads of people mixing it at around .25-.5 lbs per 1K. I assume this is more of a rate used to feed every week and if one was going to apply urea in November when temps are around 55 degrees and top growth has stoppe...

A guy I work with called Gordons and talked to them directly when they were switching their packaging for Trimec. The guy he spoke with told him their Acreage Pro was the best the offer for lawns. He recommended that product for home lawns. You might look at it as well.

Re: Darn weather forecast got me again...should have known better
Also remember the %'s in a weather forecast are not the percent chance of rain. The percentage you see is what percent of the area will receive .1 inch of rain. I think that is the amount but I cant remember. I took a basic meteorology class in college. If your weather app shows for example 60% rain...

Weight of 5 gallon bucket of Urea granules?
I have a farmer friend who is going to give me 250 lbs. of Urea to put down this year. He has a large pile inside his barn. I am wandering if anyone know about how much a 5 gallon bucket of the stuff would weigh? I will get an exact weight once I get home so I know exactly how much I am putting down...

Re: Sprayer vs. Spreader?
I have both. I have found weed killers usually work better for me from my sprayer and fertilizers work better in granular form. I have several acres I treat so I have both in pull behind units.

Re: Urea source
Yeah, I never heard of it either, like mentioned above check with feed mills. I had no idea but was told they mix it in with cattle feed. On a side note I had a farmer friend who is going to give me enough Urea for my treatment later this year. I just called him to ask where to get it and he told me...

Re: Urea source
I have a friend who works at some local coop. He is going to check and see if there is any food grade in the area. I was surprised it is cheaper than the regular stuff. Curious to see what kind of prices I find locally. Due to the size of the yard I treat I had planned on skipping my late applicatio...

Re: Bird house or not
I know Im late to the party but it is not uncommon for starlings to try to build nests in my gutters right inside the downspout. Every year one or two of them end up sliding down and get trapped. They are the only cavity nesting birds I have ever seen try to nest in gutters. You do not want to build...

Re: Urea source
I am curious if anyone around me has food grade. I just called it the winter application because around here it is usually "winter" when I put down my last application of the year. Seems to be mid to late November when ground temps get right.

Re: Replanting a tulip tree....
Thanks I had seen that. I was just curious since mine is less then a year old and not 2-3 feet like they mention in the example if moving it now would be any harder on it than moving it next spring. Or if keeping it in a pot over the winter in the garage would be a smart choice or not. I am assuming...

Replanting a tulip tree....
The "tree" section of this forum doesn't get much action so I am posting this here. I have a small tulip tree that popped up this summer against my house. I have read that it is best to transplant either in the spring or fall when there are no leaves. I am in Indiana where we can have pretty harsh w...

Re: pre-emergent for crabgrass
Everything is going up in price. I use Prodiamine on my lawn (about 4 acres). It is the most cost effective stuff I have found for a yard my size. A couple years ago this stuff was around $60.00, now it's around 100.00 https://www.amazon.com/Quali-Pro-Prodiamine-Pre-Emergent-Herbicide-Granules/dp/B0...

Best weed control for gravel driveway
Just curious what the best long term weed control application would be for my driveway. It is around 600 foot long and I find myself spraying roundup (I like the quick pro) as it knocks the weeds down quickly but 2 weeks later a new batch is up. I am curious what products you guys use that might hav...

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
I started to spray broadleaf yesterday but it started getting too windy so I stopped, plan to finish today. Got 2 1/2 acres done, one more to go today. No rain in the forecast until tomorrow so should be good.

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
I put Prodiamine down on 3 1/2 acres of my lawn today. One acre of it which I renovated about 7 years ago I put down 1.5 lbs (Prodiamine WDG). The next 2 acres, one was renovated 2 years ago and the other last year, I put it down and a lighter rate in case I decide to overseed this fall. Due to the ...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
I got my urea dropped last week on 3 acres. After I finished it up we got just under 1/2 inch of rain, then two days later we got about an inch of snow. Should be good until spring. How time to get on Amazon and get some prodiamine sent this way.
