Re: Reading and Interpreting Fertilizer Labels
The amount of salt that will dissolve in the soil. To much salts makes it harder for seed/grass to absorb water from the soil.

In addition, the higher the salt index, the higher the chances of "burning" the lawn.

Fungus
Got out and walked the lawn. I noticed a lot of yellow/dead grass. My initial thought was winter dormancy. After a closer look, I noticed quite a bit of leaf spot and possible other fungus. Can anything be done this time of year? https://i.postimg.cc/8JGn9yzC/1-6-19-Fungus.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/V...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
Just got back from 10-day vacation. Was happy to see that all mulched leaves on the lawn prior to leaving on vacation were consumed by the herd. Went over the lawn with the mower picking up leaves and placing them in the compost pile. Notices many piles of leaves on the street in the neighborhood wa...

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
More rain tomorrow morning with temps dropping for days afterward. Since I will be away for the next 10 days, decided to drop winterizer today. Same general area as you. I mowed yesterday and noticed no growth since last mow 10 days ago. Dropped winterizer before the rain came. Good to hear someone...

Mulched mowed today with my new mower (Kobalt 80v electric)...50% off original price at Lowes. SO MUCH easier to mulch leaves now!
With 50 degree weather coming, I think it is still to early to drop winterizer.

Re: Heads-Up: It's Time to Talk "Leaf Mulching"!
If they are dry enough, and if your mower is a mulching mower, just hit them again. As long as they're not blocking all the light, they're fine to leave over the winter - I've done it several years when it gets cold early, and it works out fine. Although they are much slower to eat the leaves, the ...

Re: Heads-Up: It's Time to Talk "Leaf Mulching"!
Seeking advice. I have been mulching leaves since they started dropping ensuring matting doesn't occur. I mulched last Sunday. It is to dark when I get home from work, so I can't see how much decomposed throughout the week. We got 3-4 inches Thursday. It is all melted, so I got to see the lawn this ...

In pause. Grass still growing, so mowing and mulching leaves. Waiting until growth stops to drop winterizer.

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
My yard is small with only 2 medium size trees. I have a lawn service this year. I will not use them next year, so I'm slowly acquiring my own lawn care equipment. I got the Black n Decker blower/vacuum that also mulches leaves. I will go look for other piles of leaves in the neighborhood, collect t...

Purchased a mulcher this past weekend.
Waited for the fallen leaves to dry a little and mulched them for the first time. Ready to add OM back into the soil.

Re: Overseeded - What Next?
Don't give up! Salvage what success you can, and work from there. I've done numerous renovations (that's being kind), and had ones that were still germinating at 35 days, with no apparent rhyme or reason. Encourage what DID grow, and use the Philes regimen in the Spring with overseeding where neede...

Overseeded - What Next?
Hi, First post after becoming a member a few days ago. Been reading a lot over the past several weeks and look forward to learning even more. I overseeded my front and back yards getting significantly different results. Backyard - I overseeded introducing Midnight KBG. I have been seeds down for 32-...
