Do you know how shocking this subject is to somebody whose only child is named Olivia?
I get a jolt every time I see this thread.

Re: Neighbors weed infestation
I'm more of a beer drinker, but I think in circumstances such as these, scotch may be the answer.

Re: No more triathlons for me this year
Glad that you got to the hospital on time and things are improving for you! I have had two friends killed on road bikes over the last few years. When the second person was hit a few years ago, I sold my bike. I used to ride 100 miles a week. It is too dangerous with idiots living on their phones an...

Re: No more triathlons for me this year
I had another doctor's appointment today. I'm cleared to ride outside with some conditions. I can ride on paved trails, but not on streets. And I'm only supposed to ride at a moderate pace and not push too hard. So I drove to the trailhead and rode a couple of miles, turned around and rode back. I w...

I just noticed that the subject of your first post says soil test, but you didn't post one.

Re: Jonie's 2022 Soil Test
I just planted it last year. Thia year has been so dry that even the buffalo grass is dormant. At least I hope it got established enough last year that it's dormant and not dead.

Also, you need to post a link to this in the soil interpretation thread.

Re: Jonie's 2022 Soil Test
I can't help with the soil test or the silver carpet, but I'll point out that Buffalo grass needs very little water to live once it's established, but you'll need to water it every day for the first week or so, then cut back. If I remember correctly, I watered a couple of times a week for 3 weeks or...

Re: No more triathlons for me this year
In retrospect, there were plenty of clues that it was pretty serious. Telling me to go to emergency because it would make the process simpler and he had already called ahead, walking into emergency with a full waiting room and only waiting about 5 minutes before heating my name called, the whiteboar...

Re: No more triathlons for me this year
Well, I'm glad to hear that you've gotten some vision back! (But yes, "horrible pain for hours" being relatively harmless is kind of a wake up call, although it does no lasting damage) Thanks. Some vision is relative. I went from pretty much completely black, to a small sliver of vision, to sort of...

Re: No more triathlons for me this year
@morpheuspa, they told me that there are a number of causes of temporary blindness and most of them fall in a range between pretty serious and life threatening. The migrain predictor is one of the examples of what they consider relatively harmless. I've never had a migraine, but I know others who ha...

Re: No more triathlons for me this year
M I had a followup appointment today. The good news is that I've got enough peripheral vision that I'm cleared to drive, but they cautioned me to be careful and remain aware of my blind spot. The bad news is that it's highly unlikely that I'll recover much, if any, more of my vision. I'm still out f...

Re: I Dislike This Phone
I've been using Samsung Notes for years. I've been very happy with them. My current phone is a Note 9 with 6 gb ram and 128 gb storage. They've discontinued the Note line, but apparently the s22 ultra is the closest thing to it. I think I bought mine in 2018. I've bought my last few phones at Costco...

Re: Malt extract syrup
10 years is pretty old. I've used extract that was a year past its best by date. It was darker and made sweeter beer than expected, but it made beer.
10 years? Your plan sounds good.

Re: No more triathlons for me this year
:x Man, that sucks! Keep us updated. Just for future note, "waking up blind" equals "get butt to emergency room instantly." :-) Yes. In retrospect that's obvious. Actually, any sudden blindness, even if temporary. In my defense, I had sudden blindness in that eye that lasted a few minutes a couple o...

No more triathlons for me this year
I woke up the other day completely blind in my right eye. It seemed to be improving a bit, so I decided to wait a day and see if it got better. It didn't, at least not enough. So I went to see an ophthalmologist. At the end of the exam, I was told to go down the street a couple of blocks to the hosp...

Re: Malt extract syrup
How old is it and how was it stored? It may still have some use of you're a brewer. It may be tough to file enough to spray. I think you'd probably want to use about 4 parts water to one part extract by volume. You'll want the water to be hot to have much of a chance of getting a good mixture. You c...

It's there a way for an admin to move the last few posts about my native lawn to that thread?

Status of my lawn
I'm starting a new thread so we don't hijack the other one any further. ^So, are those natives grass species keeping any green color in the dry heat? They're all warm season, right? Or are some cool season? And sorry if you mentioned it recently, but how much rain has occurred this Spring there? Sur...
