KnN, Great job! Thanks for taking the time to document and photograph your steps!
Thanks guys! Now if only "sprout and pout" would come to an end and the grass would start growing where we can see it! ;)

Re: Sprayer options for large hilly yard

Can the Earthway sprayer be modified with pneumatic tires? Also the handles look flimsy. Does anyone have one that can comment? I've got the same hill problems. Which Earthway sprayer are you asking about? I have the Earthway S25 , which I purchased used from Craigslist, and I am generally happy wi...

Ouch! That sounds expensive! If it was an electric space heater, I'm surprised it hadn't caught on fire!

Re: Frost!!!

Was the coldest night of the season here in Bedford, NH, too. Our thermometer only went down to 34F (it's in a shaded spot), but the portions of the lawn with a lot of sky exposure had very light frost on the blades of grass, and there was a skim coat of light frost on the car roof and windshield. T...

When I build my new house, I will be putting a well in. Until then, a single 1 inch watering of 40k square feet would use 24,935 gallons of water. My municipal water costs $21.40 per 100 c
Wow, that's nearly 3 cents per gallon - even watering a vegetable garden could get expensive!

Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation - Day 24 - Backing Off Watering

After walking around the renovation area this morning, decided that it's time to start backing off of the "germination watering" which seeks to keep the soil continually moist, and start transitioning the watering to once-a-day watering. Then, once the grass gets to mowing heights, we'll water still...

Re: Fall Prodiamine after KBG germination

That's a good idea to get a fall per-emergent down for a lawn of KBG to reduce the amount of Poa annua and Poa trivialis that can get started in your lawn from seeds that may already be there. As much as there's a lot of knowledgeable people on forums like this one, the first place that you should c...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2020 Version

I should have added I'll be away this weekend...don't know if that's a good thing or bad. For starters, it's good because I don't have to sweat out sprout & pout. The weather is predicted to be really good, so I don't have any concerns about storms. The bad thing is it is nice to be able to go out ...

Looking good, I wouldn't worry about it not filling in right away. Like you said, it will looks great by June of next year. Thanks! We're hoping the sprout and pout ends before long and we'll be able to get a few mows in before winter! We may have a few blades here and there that are starting signi...

Glad to hear that you've received the rain needed for germination on such a large area. Renovations without irrigation are quite the challenge.

Can't wait to see pics!

Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation - Reno Progress Photo Sequence

With progress being so slow during "sprout and pout" we put together a 4-photo sequence to help us look at the bright side of things. We were hoping the pics would be encouraging. Alas, the Day 15 and Day 22 pictures look nearly identical. Sigh. Such is "sprout and pout." "Lliac Area" on the morning...

Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation - Day 22 Photo Update

Today is Day 22 from seed-down and the time for the next weekly installment of photos. Even though we've done this many times before and know that the pace will pick up in the future, this "sprout and pout" period is very discouraging . It just kind of looks like everything has stopped growing and f...

Re: 'New' House old lawn Restoration 2020

My personal approach to Poa trivialis is that any day after it is observed but no action has been taken against it yet is a day of the problem just getting worse. I've never found letting it grow to have any benefits. That said, it's tricky to deal with amongst new seedlings. If I was sure it was Po...

Re: Which I20 Nozzle is most common?

I'm not entirely sure I understand the question - you have some old I-20 which have nozzles in them, but they don't have a numerical code on them to identify their size? You're trying to match a new nozzle to the old ones to get about the same performance? If so, I'd suggest taking the old nozzle ou...

Re: Lightning Strike Help

If you have simultaneous leaks from different heads in a zone, the problem is almost surely with the valve for that zone. It is unlikely that heads would have been damaged in a lightning strike (as the heads have no electric parts), but quite likely that the valve solenoid could have been damaged.

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation

Yeah it looks good but these are tough spots. Instead of hell strips we have to deal with dead zones due to winter damage. My town road agent say no way to anything in the ground such as stone within the right of way. Definitely a challenge The "hell strips" are tough, but usually they are at least...
