Re: Casutherland - 2018 Soil Sample Results

I read your 2017 results/recommendations, and your new test. While most of the ratios are fine, the new test is estimating the TEC at a little-lower 8.49 and that moves us toward a sandier estimate of the soil. That and your statement that they stole and sold the topsoil with no replacement tells m...

Re: Pre emergent - Thoughts on Dimension

So I actually went with one single app in this case. Put it out right before a good soaking rain. Yard has definitely greened up significantly here in Nashville, TN. Hoping that the Pre-M works as it is supposed to. I also noticed that this bag suggests it is a post emergence too? Any thoughts on th...

Re: Pre emergent - Thoughts on Dimension

Hey guys, so I actually ended up picking up a bag of Lebanon ProScape 16-0-8 .19% dimension bag from The Hogan Co. Its local to me so I figured I would go by, and they had it in stock.

Re: Pre emergent - Thoughts on Dimension

Once again, a perfect illustration that it's all about what you get for the money and not the name on the bag. The total cost is either (product + shipping) or (product + tax) and how much AI you get. It ain't one bit about pretty graphics on the bag. In this case, this is a relatively expensive pr...

Pre emergent - Thoughts on Dimension

Hello everyone, almost time to start a new season! Just a quick question. I was going to pick up a pre emergent, and ran across this bag of dimension. What you are thoughts on this product? Is it pretty solid, or can I go in a cheaper direction? https://www.amleo.com/dimension-pre-emergent-on-dg-50l...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Most areas have fully germinated in my yard now. Put down and app of Pre-M (except for one area that I am trying to baby with seed and peat moss), and put out some Urea 46-0-0.

Also, this seed was planted about 3-4 weeks ago, so it is starting to get more established now.

Re: Urea 46-0-0, grub killer, and herbicide

Well I am battling onion grass and clover. Is there something that will hit both, or no?

Urea 46-0-0, grub killer, and herbicide

Question..

Can I apply fertilizer, grub killer, and herbicide to a new reno all in the same application, or do I need to spread them out?

If so, how far apart should they be spread? Will any of these damage a new reno?

Onion grass and clover

I just finished renovating a clients yard and she is starting to have onion grass and clover come in. How can I kill this without damaging her new fescue? Any thoughts? She also has a good deal of moss in her back yard where it’s really shady. Any thoughts on how to get rid of that without damaging ...

Lawn Renovation for Client - Tennessee

I have a client that I am about to do a total Lawn Renovation for. She has a lawn full of weeds with quite a bit of shade. Here is my current plan: 1) Kill her entire yard with glyphosate (Compare N Save 41%) over the next few weeks. Will apply more than one round if necessary. 2) Scalp the yard dow...

Re: New Landscape - Plants, Shrubs, Perennials, etc.

If they are mulched that will help a great deal retaining the moisture. Keep the soil slightly damp for the first week or so. Best practice is the check by touch and make sure it's dark black and slightly damp. If it is, just leave it. Water for a solid two to three minutes each time. They are mulc...

New Landscape - Plants, Shrubs, Perennials, etc.

Hey everyone, So recently, my wife and I decided to hire a contractor to come in and install a fire pit, trim back our cedar tree line/weeds, and install some new landscaping (shrubs, perennials, etc.) Here is a full list of everything that we are getting installed. I am incredibly excited, but slig...

I would really love if someone could help answer this before the end of the day. I planned on putting this out when I got home from work this evening.

Re: Is my soil really that bad or is it me?

Be careful with the watering. Too much will cause shallow roots. Instead of every other day. Try watering every 3rd day. Maybe bumping the water to .75". But be ready to act if the old symptoms return. You're learning to read the lawn. We are expecting temps to rise to the mid to upper 90's by the ...

Tank Mix Propiconazole / Tenacity - Also observations from Biofungicide Applications

Hello All, So just to start, I have been applying Serenade/Companion/Actinovate bi-weekly since early March. We are now in July, and I am still dealing with Fungal issues. They seem to be contained to my back yard which is good. However, so far I have interrupted the Biofungicide routine with one ro...

My experience related to Yucca is the opposite -- the work I've done related to BLSC2 showed that it is the most important component affecting water retention.
Thanks Tim,

I hadn't seen that post. Good to know!
