Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Just applied Grubex due to rain in the forecast later today and later tomorrow.
On Thursday April 14th applied WBG to the mix salad of weeds popping up.
Lawn is close to needing its first mow. Probably Monday or Tuesday (weather permitting)

Applied Prodiamine in between light showers yesterday.
Forsythia's not blooming but about to any day now. :good:
checking Milo prices in my area....
Local Walmart had their Milo priced at $32.
Lowes and Home Depot was just under $20.

Re: Applying Prodiamine Revisited

I tried to edit my post, apparently it didn't work.
I wanted to also include....
I am using Prodiamine 65 WGD
Also with the 2" rain we got the other night, the lawn is greening up nicely.
I just wanted to apply the pre em while the grass is still short.
If that makes any sense....

Applying Prodiamine Revisited

Last year I started a thread regarding applying Prodiamine and Morph replied with fantastic information regarding mixing and applying to a smaller lawn (2,500 sq ft). I actually printed a copy of the thread last year. I thought it would be great to revisit it. I tried to bring the thread back today ...

Re: Forsythia line

Pretty much a roller coaster with our temps the last few weeks.. :banghead:
Hoping today is the last of it and we turn the corner.... hence
no forsythia yellow blooms in sight yet.
Last year my notes say it was around April 8th.

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Dropped final fertilizer last week before rain. Mulch mowed for the last time the other day. Of course neighbors oak leaves were still coming down. Today, blew whatever leaves on lawn under hemlock and will deal with them in the spring. Lawnmowers put to sleep in shed for winter. Fired up Snowblower...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Finally got our 1st frost here this morning. Last year the 1st frost was Sept 19. Oct. has been mostly in the 70's. Some stinking weeds still thriving..... Fall foliage has been meh.... :nea: Still a lot of green leaves on trees. which is interesting because in August some maple trees in my neighbor...

Re: Typical Late-Season "Problems"

Morph I wish my lawn looked half as good as yours. Very nice. No rust here (knocks on wood). The last couple days I cut down my perennials. Instead of mowing every 4 days, it's now every 5 days. I dropped my HOC to 3". The temps are still in the 70's here which is way above normal. (no complaints h...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Since July 1 my rain gauge showed a total of 5+ inches of rain. I have been mowing every 3-4 days. I can't remember if I have ever seen lawns of those who don't have irrigation systems (myself included), looking this green in July. I did get to mow yesterday when it was pretty dry..... just before a...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

My lawn needs mowing however the heat index is 100+ .....
and temps will be up there for the next few days.
I think I'll stay in my A/C house and wait for the heat to break.
I don't want to stress the grass or me. :tease:

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Ended up getting 2 1/2" rain over the weekend (according to my rain gauge). So I'm thinking my fertilizer I dropped just before was probably wasted. (sigh) Mowed yesterday and trimmed. More wet weather expected (showers/T-storms) later today, Thurs/Fri Expecting hot/humid weather after that. Thinkin...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Somebody recently said to use CCO on speedwell . I'm hoping that plain old 2,4d will kill it and let the clover live (Iplanted clover on purpose, as did many people before anot the mid 60s), but I suspect the opposite will be the case. I tried hand pulling last year, but judging by this year's crop...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

We had about 1/2" rain a couple days ago in a late day storm. I couldn't drop my fertilizer at that time because the temp was 90. Today the forecast shows very cool temps with rain tonight, some tomorrow, Sunday and maybe Monday. :yahoo: I dropped my 30=0=4 fertilizer earlier today and await for Mot...

I've deceided to give it another week for rain. If that doesn't pan out....
I will drop the Milo and save the synthetic for fall.

Rethinking spring fertilizer......

Speaking from someone who has to depend on Mother Nature for irrigation.... the last few years our late Springs have been hot and dry making the Memorial Day drop almost impossible. Last year I couldn't even drop my fertilizer in May due to those conditions. I ended using Milo (bag rate) early June ...

Re: Can someone please identify this weed?

I have an explosion of this also this year. :banghead: Some of mine started having tiny blue flowers on the tips. I believe it is corn speedwell. Hitting it with CCO was effective for me. Here is a great site I found for "monthly" weeds Identifications. Scroll down the page to see the picture of you...

and here I thought the next 3 day forecast of t-storms would be a good time to maybe drop my fertilizer...
that would be a negative :nea:
the temps are expected to be 89-90 degrees :banghead:

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Mowed yesterday. Still waiting for rain. Last mowed 5 days ago. Can't believe it's still growing with no rain. I'm thinking it's our cool nights. We've been on water restrictions for a month now.... Possibly some sort of mother nature help via t-storm over the weekend and Monday. Hopefully I can get...
