Re: My Lawn is Full of Weeds!
Applied the first application of WBG tonight. Will wait 1-2 weeks to see the results and then decide if I need a second application. Then onto phase 2

Re: My Lawn is Full of Weeds!
I was going to start the first phase of the triangle approach tonight. However, tomorrow is supposed to be almost 90 degrees F in my area but then cool down after that into the upper 70s/low 80s. Is this too hot to apply WBG? How late in the season can I start this approach?

Re: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
Looked at my yard. Thought about starting phase 1 of the triangle approach. A little too hot today. Shooting for next weekend now, if the rain holds off. I did buy the Ortho WBG hose sprayer. Too many weeds to spot spray. I'm gonna have a lot of bare spots!

Re: Need help with fighting weeds
I wondered the same. I'm going to be completing step 1 of the triangle approach in the next 1-2 weeks as I just recently put down Milorganite. I have very large patches of weeds and am also anticipating bare spots. I don't think I'll overseed though this year, or if I do it will be late fall....mayb...

I agree. Temps here in western PA have been in the low to mid 70's so if that holds I will probably start step 1 this weekend. I'm worried I'm gonna mess something up. It can't look worse than it already is, or can it?

Re: My Lawn is Full of Weeds!
Gags,
Good info. Thanks for the detailed response. I'm about halfway between Erie and Pittsburgh so you're close. I actually did just put Milorganite down about 2 weeks ago so I might be ready to start step 1 this weekend. I'll post back here to update my progress.

Did you use the triangle approach?ChicagoLawn wrote:Per the recommendation of users on this forum I went with the following and after 2 to 3 sprays the ground ivy was gone. Big difference. I probably need to spray 1 or 2 more times to get rod of certain spots.

Re: My Lawn is Full of Weeds!
I really want to educate myself and get the best info I can. I used to fertilize during the summer holidays, I would over seed when I remembered, and throw down some lime here and there. What a waste! Now, I want to take my time, learn, and do it right. Thanks for all the great info so far.

Re: My Lawn is Full of Weeds!
Tnkrer,
Your timeline is helpful. Gives me a basic idea of what I might be aiming for. I'm pretty excited to try this out. Is September 1st a little early for western PA?

Re: My Lawn is Full of Weeds!
Yes, you would leave time inbetween level 1 and two (whatever the bottle recommends). A backpack or pump sprayer would be the best way to apply. For the wild violet (and some others), you might need to add a surfacant to the triclopyr. Thanks. Is the triclopyr something similar as to what Andy is r...

Re: My Lawn is Full of Weeds!
What general-purpose broadleaf liquid weed killer to start with in step 1, and should this be applied with a backpack sprayer? Also, are we talking early fall for this application? And for steps two and three are they being performed after the 7-14 day period after step 1? Sorry for all the question...

My Lawn is Full of Weeds!
Ok....so first post. I removed 2 75ft pines about 2 years ago, dealt with moles (one still hanging around), and finally have somewhat of a backyard now. I've been fertilizing, spread a weed and feed once, and over seeded once - which didn't turn out great. Don't get me wrong, my lawn looks o.k. just...
