Re: When to put down POA pre-m app?

I haven't put down a pre m yet. I'm trying to source Prodiamine granular but am having trouble. Site One near me doesn't carry it.

Re: Best way to irrigate 100'x20' rectangle?

I just did an 80'x25' rectangle overseed that I'm watering. I am using the type HLG has shown above. It's a Gilmore I got from my local hardware store. I've had it a couple years with no issues yet. I have to move it twice for good coverage.

Thanks. It'll be a nice size trial. If it isn't very successful I'll end up doing a reno instead.

Re: Pennstater2005 Small Overseed

Watering in right now and need more peat moss. This smaller over seed will be doable with watering needs. Bigger would've been nearly impossible.

Pennstater2005 Small Overseed

So I started a small over seed today. I was going to do the back yard, 10,000 sq ft, but glad I didn't. I'm doing a smaller trial area this year. https://s9.postimg.cc/a5qodjyff/image.jpg https://s9.postimg.cc/cocde8k5n/image.jpg https://s9.postimg.cc/yc1bookjv/image.jpg [ Post made via iPhone ] htt...

Re: Tips for an overseed

This is posted in the FAQ section and lays it out pretty well for you, given your concerns. I don't think there's any magic in it. http://aroundtheyard.com/faqs/61-steps-to-overseeding-steps-to-new-establishment.html Thank you for the link. That will be very helpful. Not sure why I couldn't find th...

Re: Tips for an overseed

Thanks for all the responses. Definitely some stuff I never thought about. The full renovation is on my mind but I'm willing to try this first even if it means I waste some money. A few thoughts/questions.... 1. Peat moss was mentioned. Is that a necessity or can I just overseed and then water appro...

Re: Tips for an overseed

Tsmith, Thanks for the reply. Choosing either front or back is a good idea. I don't really have a watering set up except for an oscillating sprinkler. I'll be over seeding with a northern mix which is: 36.2% KBG - VNS 19.77% Edgewood creeping red fescue 19.77% Amazing perennial ryegrass 19.77% Reven...

Tips for an overseed

I am planning a fall over seed but definitely could use some advice. I did attempt to use the search function to find advice but came up short. My plan is to start lowering cut height mid to late August if not crazy hot. Then overseed in September. I don't have irrigation and work all day so I have ...

Finally, after 4 years of having a riding mower, I leveled the blades/deck. What a difference!

If folks go beyond the basics I think they'll take it upon themselves to further explore the forums. If not, they'll still get better advice here, in this sub forum, than most other places.

Re: New Forum Added for "Lawn Care Basics 101"

When I purchased seed I sourced it locally at a garden center. It was from the Oliger seed company out of Akron, OH. It's a northern mix of KGB, perennial ryegrass, and some creeping fescue. I know it's not the best but it's a lot nicer than what I have.

Re: New Forum Added for "Lawn Care Basics 101"

I am more of a basic lawn care kind of guy. I started with the triangle approach and then started fertilizing and a pre m after. I got to level 2 and stopped. I can tolerate the grassy weeds although I occasionally hand pull or spray them and reseed. I've never applied any other selective herbicides...

I'm cutting at 3". Will probably go to 3.5" soon and stay there.
