If your on your 4th app, won't some of the KBG bleach by the 4th app?
I find the the Bewitched doesn't really turn white anymore. The first year it did, but as the years go on, there is less and less whitening of the Bewitched.

Yes, Poa Annua is easy to ID, but Triv, not so easy.

Is this Poa Trivialis

I'm on my 4th application of Tenacity and as you can see in the pictures, I have some weedy grasses turning white. This grass comes up at a slight angle outward. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm guessing Poa Trivialis. Any help would be appreciated. https://i.postimg.cc/BL83m8C1/May-2019-1.jpg https...

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2018 Front Lawn Renovation - "War on Triv"

Looking good Ken-n-Nancy. If you can keep the Poa and other grassy weeds out, you have won the battle. The thickening and color will come easily.

Re: Anyone start their yearly POA battle yet?

It's a constant battle that just continues year after year no matter how much pre emergence is applied in the late summer/fall (at least for me). I walk my lawn every two weeks with a 5 gallon pail, and just pull up anything that's not Bewtiched. If you keep at it and not let it get out of control, ...

Re: Best Tall Fescue to mix with Bewitched

Mixes are fine. But most of the folks on this site growing KBG cultivars like Bewitched are growing KBG monoculture lawns. I do have a Bewitched Monostand, but there are some areas that are really struggling due to shade. I figured Tall Fescue mixed in would do better than 100% Bewitched in these a...

Paul, if you have somewhat shady conditions, overseeding with Tall Fescue is a viable strategy. I would go for cultivars like Titanium 2LS that are dark green.
Thanks Green.

Re: GrubEx timing

I have always applied Dylox the end of August and never have had a grub issue. The grubs are small at this time, so they are easily taking out by the Dylox.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Applied second split app of Dimension and second of five Tenacity apps. Doing the 14 day, twice a week, 3.2 ounce Tenacity program. Also applied two bags of Milo just to get used to my new Lesco spreader. Still working on calibration of the new spreader especially distance between each pass. I figur...

Best Tall Fescue to mix with Bewitched

Has anybody mixed Tall Fescue with Bewitched? What is the best Cultivar that mixes with Bewitched the best? I have some areas that the Bewitched has thinned out due to shade, and thinking about mixing in some Tall Fescue.

Re: Anyone start their yearly POA battle yet?

I'm going to wait until the weather gets warmer. Tenacity on Poa Annua is more effective as the weather gets warmer. I'm planning on my first of 5 apps on May 11th, twice a week. I just mowed for the first time last Saturday and really didn't even need it. Bewitched is very slow to wake up.

When is the best time to uses a dethatcher machine to remove dead grass ? If your going to De thatch, now is the best time to do it since this the the ideal time for your grass to recover. And as far as the Honda HRX not mulching well, I don't agree. I Have had three Honda's now, with a new purchas...

Don't know how you guys find the time to mow with that much nitrogen being applied. You must be mowing every other day! It's getting dark by 7:15 now.

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2018 Front Lawn Renovation - "War on Triv"

Looks very good, i'm sure it will turn out very nicely. For me, Bewitched can't be judged until the second full year. Areas that I thought wouldn't make it because of the shade, did allot better the second year. They are not thin like the first year. One thing you stated: At long last -- about 10 mo...

Re: Grubs!

The one thing I don't see in the article is Dylox. I use Bayer 24 hour grub killer with Dylox every year at this time (end of August) and never had an issue. This is the best time to kill them since they are small.
