Re: Renovate or keeping working at it

No. So far it's crystal clear that rock hard clay is not suitable for growing grass. It's patchy, some areas have decent soil and others you would bend a shovel trying to dig. From what I gather I have a complete lack of "organic matter" for anything to live or grow in. So, the main focus should I h...

Re: Renovate or keeping working at it

Mowing was never super short due to new grass, I did do my homework on cutting lengths. Lately I've switched up to about 3". It's been really hot and dry in Iowa so the only thing cut lately has been weeds.

Re: Renovate or keeping working at it

The wife is against it because of the expenses so far. I told her it will be even more to keep nursing along our weed patch. I think like this, there's nothing to lose by starting over because it can't get much worse. Thanks for the input [ Post made via iPhone ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/ima...

Renovate or keeping working at it

I've got a new construction home with a new yard. My property is next to a farm field so I have a ton of country type weeds. We also have about any other invasive grass you could think off. This spring when everything greened up we were excited because we had a fairly full lawn to mow after having m...

Re: Weed ID

This picture is of the grass but a taller one that hasn't been mowed. Based on my homework I think barnyard grass might be a possibility.

Re: Weed ID

I'm not sure if this helps any but so far the root system for the shorter examples is a clump and shallow. It does not appear to have rhizomes or the long stringy root type. It pulls very easily. I will add some closer pictures later. [ Post made via iPhone ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/images/...

Weed ID

Any help with these? In Iowa cool season mix. Thinner turf. New construction lawn on previous ag ground. Weeds popped up early July. Grow super fast. Smaller one starts out lime green. http://s17.postimg.cc/6cldjiiuj/image.jpg [ Post made via iPhone ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/images/mobile/i...
