Re: Kelp Help / Soil Conditioner Question For Small Lawn
It's really very variable, but weeks as opposed to months, assuming you apply every 2 weeks or so. I regularly use 4 oz per thousand, actually and...er...well, somewhat higher than that at times... Hey Morph, when you get time, can you possibly create an updated version of the BLSC and BLKH. From w...

Re: Japanese Maple - Possible insect damage?
I take it that it's probably been pretty hot in your area for awhile now? Assuming the JM is getting adequate water...is it mulched deep enough to retain moisture? Had a quick conversation in passing with one of the folks at our local nursery about it...first thought was something drought stress re...

Re: Kelp Help / Soil Conditioner Question For Small Lawn
You won't notice much lawn quality difference, per se, quickly with just the SLS--although the lawn should accept and hold more water over time. Morph, Can you "ish" a time period where you should start seeing the soil be more accepting to water? Like a application every two weeks and you should se...

Re: Need Recommendations on New Homeowner Lawn Equipment
I don't know if you're limiting the equipment to power equipment selections, but a backpack sprayer is pretty standard homeowner equipment I already have that. I am just looking for what was mentioned above. I did a little reading and know that you recommend the Honda HRX217 mower, but I think that...

Need Recommendations on New Homeowner Lawn Equipment
So as some of you may or may not know, I recently ran a small landscaping business on the side to my normal day job in healthcare. I have received a few promotions, and have decided that this will be my last year running that business. Therefore, I plan on selling all of my equipment to get more "ho...

Bifen XTS on Cool Season Lawn
Hey guys, Recently I have noticed an increases of bugs around the lawn. We have had quite a bit of rainfall, and many have begun to surface. I purchased some Bifen XTS on sale a few months ago, so have quite a bit on hand. I know that this is an oil based insecticide, so I was wondering if this is s...

Sunpatien Question
It appears that my sunpatiens may be having some sort of issue going on. Can someone help identify what the problem may be? Or is this the normally way that they start fading and falling off? https://s1.postimg.cc/4q7jma963/IMG_1402.jpg https://s1.postimg.cc/3p7ax5s6j/IMG_1403.jpg https://s1.postimg...

Re: Needing above ground sprinkler advice
No I do not plan on leaving the hoses in the yard. I just don't prefer waking up at 5 am to water. In the past I have a single zone timer and would have to go move the hose every little bit. With this new system, I plan on setting the hoses out the night before I water, and collect each hose prior t...

May try the impact sprinklers and see if they work. I have trouble getting those to do what I want. I sort of like the oscillating sprinklers..thoughts?

Re: Needing above ground sprinkler advice
What? watered in unison? Like all areas at once? That might not be possible with hoses. You need to have enough pressure and gpm that the hoses bib can't provide. What's hard with this areas? Im not sure why you are struggling. Any one of this style should work. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017QDHYM...

Needing above ground sprinkler advice
Hey guys, I have some areas in my back yard that I am struggling getting watered in unison with the remainder of the back yard. I just picked up a 4 hose water timer. Can you guys provide any equipment advice for the three areas pictures below. The two areas next to the deck are the hardest to get t...

Re: Is my soil really that bad or is it me?
I just feel like after 3 months of being "by the books" I should be seeing some kind of results. What is "by the books" in your opinion and who wrote the book? From reading your post: 1) hand water in the evening (promotes fungus) 2) hand water until there was runnoff (why so much?) 3) Looking at a...

Re: Is my soil really that bad or is it me?
As Andy corroborated, your soil is NOT the problem - I would love to trade you! I see a little disease, some summer stress, and floppy turf. Your post and question from April: I was out in the yard yesterday, and based on observation and a little advice from a few local companies. I believe the iss...

Re: Is my soil really that bad or is it me?
So are you thinking that the issue is that you're not getting enough water into the soil? Have you done the screwdriver test? How much thatch do you have? No, I think that the water I'm putting down is having multiple effects, depending on the rate at which it is applied. When hand watering, the so...
