Re: Post emergent crabgrass killer approved in NY
I see that Amazon will ship me a small bottle of a lower concentration of Quinclorac but not the higher concentration. Which is fine because I don't need much.

It looks like "Fusilade II" can be sold to NY homeowners. Any experience with that?

Post emergent crabgrass killer approved in NY
As the title says, what are my options? Amazon says that quinclorac is not approved for use in NY.

Re: Schreibdave's 2020 Backyard Renovation
Raking is a "no go." If that's necessary I'll bag. If i get lucky my HOA lawn mowing contractor will be in the neighborhood and ill have them scalp and bag it. The reason I cant rake is I need rotator cuff surgery. And the reason I need rotator cuff surgery is from vigorously raking my dead PR up in...

What are these dead spots?
I seem to have two kinds. They look the same from above but when u pull on the dead blades u get two different results. The first kind is dead on top but seems to have some green down below and the blades are firmly rooted. The second type of spot looks identical but the blades pull right up. They a...

Schreibdave's 2020 Backyard Renovation
Well the deed is done. I sprayed 16oz of generic 50% glyphosate on my 4K sqft PR back yard. Last year I did the front and sides (about 9K sqft) and it came out better than I could have hoped. Lets hope this year's project turns out just as well. I'll give it 5-6 days and then I will start scalping i...

Re: jskierko's Fall 2020 Bewitched Front Renovation
That RU worked fast. I generally use the generic version which I think is missing one of the components of brand name RU - it works a lot slower. Do you have a back pack sprayer? You might want to add it to the collection of tools. Especially for things like blanket spraying tenacity. My plan is to ...

Re: Lawn help
The mower blade could be dull already or it could be that the torn grass blades got like that weeks ago and the lawn hasn't grown much since then. You will be SHOCKED at how long you have to water to get even .5 inches down all at once. It will be several hours. And considering that your lawn was se...

Re: Bonehead move
My wife ventured into the garage today and looked around (this is unusual) and commented on my 5 sprayers with labels on them. I mentioned that she had 7 different frying pans even though we have a 4 burner stove. That was the end of that conversation. As others have said: dedicated sprayer for each...

Re: diy lawn care help
I wouldn't overseed. If you have bare spots you should seed them but I wouldn't waste seed by trying to get them to germinate where existing turf will crowd them out. Overseeding is nit very effective. For weeds, Weed b Gone in a pump sprayer will kill 90% of what most people identify as a weed. In ...

Re: Lawn help
I'm not an expert but zooming in on your first picture I see lesions on the blades. I think that can only come from disease. What kind of fungicide did you use? I believe some are used as preventative while others will take out existing disease. Disease thrives in humid conditions. And if you are wa...

Re: diy lawn care help
You will get higher quality answers if you post more information about your situation and what your goals are. But in general, if your plan is to aerate and overseed, you'll want to rake the seed in and then water several times a day, reducing the number of times as the grass gets more mature. Overs...

Re: I don't deserve a lawn
Your pictures are of the hell strip. They are notoriously hard places to grow decent grass. They get the heat from the road and the sidewalk, they typically have crappy or no top soil, they get snow and salt piled on them in winter, etc etc. Does the rest of the lawn have those dead spots? Did you d...

I think what I am seeing is rust. But I will keep an eye on it. Any opinion about whether rain will wash it off the grass blades?

Re: Irrigation after Serenade?
I sprayed serenade and we had a torrential downpour about 4-5 hours later. Did that likely wash the serenade off the grass blades? I sense disease pressure. Should I reapply?
