Hole-y Knockout Rose Bush
A "Double Knock-Out Rose" was installed in my landscaping last Fall and after a few weeks there were a number of holes in the leaves. I sprayed some EcoSmart insecticidal soap (different oils such as rosemary, peppermint, and thyme). It seemed to help and then winter came. The holes are back. Is thi...

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
Busy weekend... Friday watered 1", Saturday mowed the weeds at 2.5" and sprayed Serenade and TKO Phosphites at 3 oz/K each, and this morning spot-sprayed WBG+CG on my still sleeping lawn after spraying Vigoro Lawn Fertilizer (liquid) at slightly higher than label rate. The latter put down a whopping...

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
Just put down Serenade and TKO Phosphites (separately) in 18G of water. Love the sprayer and the straps seemed comfortable enough for me.

Re: Panic w/new KBG lawn
Thanks Andy. I have a crabgrass plantation developing near the rear mulch island. My Fiskars weed puller does a great job aerating soil while pulling weeds so looks like it will serve a dual purpose tomorrow afternoon.

Re: Panic w/new KBG lawn
For what it is worth, it takes about 90 minutes for my sprinklers to put down 1" of water. There are some small isolated puddles afterwards, but even those disappear within an hour or two, so water penetration seems decent. Besides organic feeding (Vitamin M, grains), plenty of BLSC/BLKH, watering d...

Re: Panic w/new KBG lawn
Andy, here are some pics I just took based on a soil sample using a 4" bulb planter. The 2nd and 3rd pics are after I "broke open" the plug. Maybe it is wishful thinking, but I think I see roots below the compost layer. I did winterize with 19# of urea (10K sq. ft.). http://s33.postimg.cc/i71llyd97/...

Re: Panic w/new KBG lawn
When I did the soil test I definitely saw two distinct soil layers, with the top layer (~1.0") being darker and looser. The soil was extensively disturbed during the construction process, and the moved back with a blade tractor (?). The seed was then mixed in with the compost and then blown over the...

From the builder's vendor: COMPOST SEEDING METHOD We are excited to offer our environmentally responsible compost seeding method. The compost is a combination of brush, yard clippings, and biodegradable wood waste from [REDACTED] homes that normally would have been disposed of in a landfill. The com...

Re: Panic w/new KBG lawn
Thanks ClintB and HSB3-LI for the feedback. I think I am leaning towards staying the course, and I will start supplementing water to get to 1"/week. Andy - About 10 other lawns were compost-seeded with the contractor's NoMix blend at various points between August and early October. They all have sim...

Panic w/new KBG lawn
I have a new KBG lawn - compost seeded the first week of August last year by my new home builder using my seed from SeedSuperStore.com (mix of Bewitched, Everglade, and Midnight). That lawn has never taken off either last Fall or this Spring, despite what I would consider an aggressive Spring nitrog...

Re: $88
1. Add one of these to your cart ($99). 2. Add four of these to your cart (or anything you may need from lowes.com that costs $1 or more). 3. Go here and click on the sketchy '$20 off $100 online order' box. 4. Copy the code in the yellow box and apply it at checkout. 5. After you receive your ~$88...

Thanks rtomek and TimmyG.
The yucca price was from the vendor listed in the BLSC article and K4L wanted a similar price for their product. Luckily I will only go through 40oz this year.

Aloe Vera for BLSC?
Short Question: Is anyone using aloe vera juice in their soil conditioner, either with or in-place-of yucca extract? Background: I was at my local big box and they had a commercial organic spray fertilizer for lawns that made a big deal about having aloe vera gel . They claim the aloe vera keeps mic...

I just heard back from Bayer Advanced this morning. According the representative, the above batches were both manufactured in April 2015 and have a "2-4 year shelf life".micvog wrote:I ordered 10 bottles and they came from LJEL000538 and LJEL000551.

Re: New Milwaukee KBG lawn
@andy10917 - With the change to Vitamin M, can you confirm the K schedule? I was originally thinking 2# SOP per 1000 every month (i.e. to match a balanced fertilizer feeding) but have since read that 3# of potassium is typically the annual maximum. My tentative schedule for this season would allow f...

Re: Too Early for the Proactive Biological Regimen?
Can you help me with the math, Oze? Wouldn't it be 1.5 years?
4oz/K x 6K x 9 apps = 216 oz.
2.5G is 320 oz, so 320/216 = 1.48 years
