According to their website FAQ it is "baked and sterilized".

Re: Chickity Doo Doo VS. Milorganite

I looked at it as well since it is available locally (Menards) and it also has some K unlike Milorganite. Biggest downsides I noticed are that it was more expensive and doesn't have iron (and my soil test says I don't need calcium).

Re: Weed ID Help - Quack or Crab?

I Google'd some more pictures and found some of Orchard Grass that are pretty much an exact match. I stand corrected. Looks like a paint brush and some RU for me. The Pre-M was a different question. When is the next window to apply pre-M? I had tried going solely organic with CGM and it hasn't worke...

Re: Coverage of Milo, etc?

I think on their website they suggest even less coverage for certain states. I always assumed it was to get below limits on the P per K.

Re: Weed ID Help - Quack or Crab?

Thanks everyone.

I am thinking it is the K-31.

When should I apply the pre-M? I am assuming right before the grass emerges from summer dormancy?

Weed ID Help - Quack or Crab?

I tried using CGM this spring exclusively as my Pre-M and I am paying a price. :( I have a patch in my front yard that is being overtaken by the following weed: http://s8.postimg.cc/dgjqvwocx/image.jpg http://s8.postimg.cc/q6nz8zwb5/image.jpg I am hoping it is Crabgrass but fear it may be Quackgrass...

I am not one of the soil crazies, but... - You can get 52# of SOP from Kelp4Less for about $65 delivered - For boron you can use 20 Mule Team Borax from the grocery store - The crazies don't like Muriate of Potash because it is hard on the soil I received essentially the same RX for my lawn last yea...

Re: What type of Mower to use

FWIW I started using a Fiskars reel mower on my 9,000 sq. ft. lawn this year. I love it. It takes me just under 1 hour to do the lawn.

Re: Let's see your Memorial Weekend lawn pics.

Last Spring the lawn was on the verge of being renovated and looked horrible from the street - bare spots, a number of weeds, cracked soil and more yellow than green in color. After 12 months on the the ATY program it looks passable as long as you are 15' away. Can't wait to see how the lawn does ov...

Re: How much npk is too much?

Does that mean I can only put down Milorganite once per month? Or is this rule only for synthetic fertilizer? If my current plan calls for 6#/K of N this season, but all but 1# of that is Milorganite, is that too much?

Dormant Grass and Fertilizer

I am trying to create a calendar with all of my fertilizer applications. Does the conventional wisdom against applying synthetic fertilizers to lawns about to go into dormancy also apply to organic fertilizer? If I let my lawn go dormant during the peak summer weeks, when should I stop putting down ...

Re: bayer natria lawn weed killer question

I did two heavy applications about 2 weeks apart. About two weeks after that I had a herbicide sprayed and it was only then that I saw any improvement. This year my lawn is much thicker thanks to the Soil Management forum. That, cutting higher, CGM and staying on top of manually pulling weeds is my ...

FWIW I used a similar product last year (Ortho Elementals) last year and found it to be ineffective.

Rabbit food on sale at Fleet Farm

I saw today's Fleet Farm circular and they have 40# of rabbit food for $10.49. That seems like a good price - a little more than Milorganite but probably worth it for the diversity of feed. Do I need to wait for the grass to start growing before putting it down or does that rule only apply to synthe...

@Andy... Ready for the Zinc and Borax application rates and timing when you are. The Zinc is "Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate 35.5%". Thanks!

Re: WI Soil Test

Ok... I have the 11-52-0 and 0-0-50 for this year and will apply according to Barley's schedule. I plan on sticking with my current winterizer but will probably put it down earlier and look into the Ammonium Sulfate next year. My wife picked up the 20 Mule Team today and the zinc is on order... Andy...

Re: WI Soil Test

@Barley - looks like there is a drive to Jefferson in my future.

The closest AgriLand could come was 12-40-0 fertilizer ($20 for 50#) that was "10% sulfur and 1% zinc" and "white potash" 0-0-62 ($18 for 50#).

Re: WI Soil Test

Oops... never would believed I was lucky to have my soil! :) I will post before/after pics at the end of Fall.

@Barley... I found the Mono Ammonium Phosphate (11-52-0) and Potassium Sulfate (0-0-50) online. Hopefully I can find it locally, but its available just in case. How much am I looking for?

Re: WI Soil Test

Thanks @Barley and @andy10917! I know of one coop in FDL (AgriLand) so I am going to stop by today after work. Otherwise, we have friends and family in Madison and Milwaukee so we are generally all over. Barley, do you have a recommended source in southern WI? Andy, I will pick up the soap and order...
