Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 25

Germination is picking up as the weather has gotten warmer. Nothing earth shattering, it’s a spring Reno, fall is definitely the primo time.

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2023 Edition

I experienced worse rainfall during a spring seeding in 2021. I think we got 5-7” of rain around Mothers Day weekend. Things turned out okay then and that was a 10k area. This is a dwarf compared to that, and I’m not really sweating it, so what happens happens. The outlook does appear much better an...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 8

It has been nothing but rain since Friday. The only time I’ve been outside was to mow what I could on Sunday. As for this new area, it’s very saturated and some spots are just standing water. I haven’t even ran out to see if anything’s germinated. That could be a sin 🙂 The weather is to start turnin...

Re: 2023: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today (Cool Season)

Sharpened the blades again this year. Tried out a sanding paddle wheel on my grinder. Not too bad.

I mowed what I could, we’ve gotten so much rain over the past few days with more to come, I have several spots where it’s just standing water

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2023 Edition

Thanks Ed! It is a nice flat area. Unfortunately tonight we got about 1” or more of rain. An absolute monsoon. But I’ll assess it tomorrow. Some of it had grass I killed off and likely protected some of the seed.

DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2023 Edition

Hello everyone back at it again in 2023. This time is a much smaller area. When we first built and moved in this area I left untouched as the farmer who plants crop in our field out back would drive down this section. It is ~3,000 square feet. When we planted our first large area (13k sq ft) I left ...

Mowed half the front yard this afternoon. It was full of grassy weeds that have grown with are warmer temps. I was getting sick of seeing them and knocked them back a bit.

Re: What's happening where you live?

It’s been interesting this winter. Around Christmas time we had incredibly low temps. Since then temps have been somewhat mild. So much so that trees are budding, some flowers are blooming. This past week a set of forsythia bushes I use as a gauge have produced some blooms and my bees are bringing i...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2022 Front Yard

On Thursday December 15th it was warm/dry enough to go out and do one last mow. This took a whisker off the grass and mulched the last bit of leaves up. I used an old riding tractor as I already cleaned up the zero turn for the winter. Looking forward to next spring https://i.postimg.cc/Hc9DJ9zx/9-B...
