Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation

Thanks! That’s kind of what I figured. The first few mows I bagged everything. Now that it’s a little bit established I’ve been mulching. (Plus it saves me from stopping to dump those bags!)

I didn’t mean to hijack your thread...I apologize. Thank you again for your thoughts!

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - BLSC and Mow

It is Day 48 and I had identified some spots I suspected compacted soil. I did not have any Soil Conditioner products on hand, so I ordered them but they were delayed. Got the Yucca extract yesterday and Today I mixed up a gallon of Best Lawn Soil Conditioner and applied. Looking back I should have ...

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation

In that situation with the leaves...what are you going to do? Blow/mulch them off immediately? I ask out of curiosity and prep. I came home today and had leaves covering the area and I went out and mowed it the reno. (Keep in mind I’m trying to time one last Urea app before rain come) The ‘prep’ par...

Bloody stellar. Speaking of which, don't forget to shower it with the blood of children on Halloween night. Twenty ounces per thousand, watered in well, should do. /snark, which I should hope I don't have to say.

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 45

I got out late Sunday night (around 7PM) and dropped Urea on the reno @ 0.5 lbs per 1k sqft. It rained approximately 1/3” so I was pleased. I got out this afternoon and mowed again. Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 40

Well folks, I’ve made it to Day 40. I was out mowing our more established areas and decided to mow the reno again just two days later after my last trim. Why? 1) I had some time so I unhooked all of my hoses and completely freed the space up so I had no obstacles. 2) I wanted to see how much growth ...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2020 Version

Looks great...any plans for another renovation next year? Thank you! Absolutely, barring anything that prohibits me from doing so. The other day my wife and I were discussing future plans. I suggested we finish off this “L” shape section to complete the back yard entirely. She immediately chimed in...

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation

That is looking really good at day 45. I can’t say that mowing lower has done anything significant. Like you said, it seems it has a positive effect, but I can’t say with any certainty. With the apps of N and irrigation it’s hard to tell if the grass is responding to that or the lower mowings...or p...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 38

I got out this afternoon and was able to mow the reno. Again I bagged the clippings. I did not water at all yesterday and only ran the sprinklers through one cycle this evening. We’re supposed to get rain Sunday. I’ll keep an eye on it and try to time an app of Urea. I have put two down so far and a...

Re: TheStig Lawn Renovation Fall 2020

Looking good Stig! All of your pics look nice. I don’t have any experience with Barricade. I’m considering a full app of Tenacity on my reno here next weeks as temps will be mid to high 70s Nothing threatening but I might hit that this weekend with Tenacity or RU once I look at it some more and see...

Re: Stack316 half backyard renovation 2020

That looks fantastic! Great work. Gotta be a good feeling putting the sprinklers away. I will give you some caution, just because I did it this spring...the spring Renos are tough. I had such weed pressure, I’m still dealing with the fallout of tackling crabgrass all spring and summer. It can be don...

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation

Looks great! What was your height of cut? I don't normally maintain the KBG at such a low height (this year, I maintained the front lawn at 3.25" for the summer, but dropped that to 2.75" at the beginning of September.) However, I have read and heard others report that lateral spread of "baby grass...

Glad to help provide some inspiration. ;) The renovation is looking good ! Keep up the good work! Thanks a lot! So this weekend has been pretty low key until about 1.5 hours ago. I ran the sprinklers once starting at noon yesterday. Today I’ve been glued to weather forecasts as we were to get predi...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2020 Version

Thanks. I have a 21” Honda Twin blade mower. I didn’t notice any grass with roots. It was all grass tips and loose straw in the bag. I sharpened the blades and thoroughly cleaned the deck Sunday. I try to mow past the reno edge and then turn the mower on non-reno area. It’s a lot of push mowing on t...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 32 Mow and Pics

Ken-n-Nancy inspired me to go mow this afternoon 😀 Honestly after reading their thread I went out this afternoon and found some shabby spots. I mowed on Sunday, but some areas were already 4-5” tall. My HOC is 2” and I dumped around 8-10 bags of clippings. They weren’t completely full, I was just ta...
