Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 24
I’ve been watering twice daily as of late. This afternoon I took the push mower and bagger out and mowed off 12k sq ft. This half of the project was covered with straw that was still wet and had a lot of seeds. Thus more weeds. I don’t want the weeds outcompeting the grass seedlings so I mowed it at...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 23
I’ve got weed pressure in the half closest to the road. The straw had a lot of seed in it. Tomorrow if I have time I need to mow and bag the clippings. From afar it looks like we have a lawn. Up close the bluegrass is popping and starting to fill in. https://i.postimg.cc/GHHSZRkV/FBDD7-B97-C74-D-497...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 17
Things are still spreading in. Weed pressure in the 12k sq ft area where we had crummy straw. I’ll have to hit that later with Tenacity. In the past we’ve had weeds from straw but by the following Memorial Day they’re taken care of. It was 67 here yesterday and I only ran the sprinklers one time. Th...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2022 Front Yard
Woke up to unexpected rain. Had to run outside and turn sprinkler system off. It’s a renovator’s dream….not too hard and not too light.

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 13
Walked The whole area this morning. Noted some bare spots. Pulled the truck out around the perimeter with straw and seed. Did some patching of seed/straw where needed. Adjusted a few of the sprinklers. Snapped one photo before I came in. https://i.postimg.cc/w1YJNpPF/D870-E627-B1-D5-48-CB-9-B4-C-254...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 11
Things are looking good overall. A little more grass pokes through the straw each morning. No adjustments to water. Yesterday and today are sunny, high of 80. Rain forecasted to move in late this weekend. https://i.postimg.cc/w3LhBPtH/AD0-E4-FB0-DED1-4696-8-F20-D8579-E7-E83-B3.jpg https://i.postimg....

Re: washout issues
You could go your route of planting an annual/nuking as you mention. Would you be opposed to a mix? KBG and Perennial Rye Grass…the PRG germinates very quickly. Admittedly it won’t be all KBG. But you may get fortunate to have something germinate and take hold. Beware though…if you’re wanting all KB...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 8
Labor Day update. Whew, we’ve had a wet weather pattern all weekend long. Early Saturday morning it rained a good 3 hours straight. Fortunately it wasn’t a hard rain. This morning we received 1.5” of rain in about 2 hours. I had standing puddles in spots. The rain stopped, the water retreated. I’ve ...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Day 5
Took the trash out this morning and pulled back some straw. Some of the PRG seedlings are sprouting which is good and expected based on previous renovations. Scattered showers in the forecast for Labor Day weekend. https://i.postimg.cc/CBx6wvc2/08-A3836-F-F4-D7-4880-A666-345565-FB6320.jpg https://i....

DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2022 Front Yard
Hello everyone. Hope all is going well! Sunday I kicked off the fall season and my sixth installment of converting our lot into real turf. It started back in March actually when I started the search to secure seed, mark off the plan on the calendar for killing off the existing front lawn, etc. The a...

I know you’ve already gotten a soil test. If you obtain one through Logan Labs and post it here, you’re going to get some great advice on soil management.
