I saw those, I need a bigger lawn for that one.
Thats what gave me the idea, I just use duct tape to hold the card board, its a pain, but the best I can do.
There doesn't seem to be a well made spreader for small lawns.

Re: The upcoming season....
I have a love hate relationship going with my Scotts Classic Spreader. I came up with a cardboard sleeve I put under the spreader, weigh what I put in, then walk a straight line, measure the line, and then do a little math. That will give an idea how much I am spreading over 1,000sf. It shows you ve...

Need advice spring or fall rehab?
A few family members liked how my lawn came out and want in. Both lawns are located in SE Mass and the typical northern seed mix. The lawns are a mess just from just not taking care of it and allowing the weeds to take over. In my sisters case a grading project last spring, where the new seed was ne...

Re: The upcoming season....
Thanks for the suggestions.... I have a decent Jonathon Green dealer down in dartmouth. Ill have to check if they have Jonathan Green Crabgrass and Weed Preventer. That looks like it would be good and allows me an option to overseed in August if I decide my lawn needs it. I have a northern mix and m...

Re: The upcoming season....
Any suggestions on the pre-m? I really only have about 2,000sf, I have the usual crab grass and clover in the hell strip. I think I used to have bent grass in the backyard before I oversewed in the fall. Any suggestions on a pre-m locally available or available via mail order? I don't ever remember ...

I winterized last weekend, it didn't seem like the grass was really growing much. But had a feeling I might have got away with a few more weeks of spoon feeding urea back in October because it was so warm, but I just played it safe and went with the avg. first frost date.. Hopefully the urea I put d...

So I still have to apply my winter Urea application.
I know I have rain on the way Saturday, but have to work. Would it be OK to put it down the night before and let the rain water it in the next day?

Re: Why is my new lawn yellowing???
I thought that it was 1/2" twice a week "forever"? I assumed you stopped when it stopped growing for the winter. But I do notice the way the sun hits the yard now, it's in shade almost the whole time. During the summer I had direct over head sunlight all day. [ Post made via iPhone ] http://aroundth...

Re: Why is my new lawn yellowing???
I have a section right next t my sidewalk the same way I'd add some fertilizer but it should be in the middle of the pause. Although We still haven't really has a frost, and it's been warm. I'm just going to keep up the deep and infrequent watering and wait until it stops growing to winterize. Maybe...

I don't think I even got a first frost here yet, not one that I have seen. We had a few cold nights, but nothing with frost on the ground yet.

Re: Why is my new lawn yellowing???
I have something very similar, I did an over-seed with sun and shade mix. Waited 30days after germination to spoon feed it 0.25#N/k, and have been watering it .5"twice a week. Looks great, but... A few sections of new grass by the sidewalk that gets a lot of sun started getting tips of yellow. The s...

Re: Leaf Mulching...
Thanks for the pictures, thats very helpful. As an aside, I notice the little seed pods, my nephew calls "little helicopters" don't really get mulched up. Mother nature has seemed to design them to stick perfectly in-between blades of grass. Do these seed pods break down and cause excessive weeds la...

Re: Watering fertilizer application
I did my weekly spoon feeding Tuesday, and watered it in with about 0.25" from the sprinkler. But when I was watering the front by hand I was watching the Urea pellets. Is the idea to have the white urea pellets totally dissolved by the time your done watering? or just start the process of them brea...

Re: Filling in the gaps in the lawn...
Thanks for the link to that thread, that is very impressive. Unfortunately I now have two other things to worry about over the winter :banghead: The reason I get picky about it is because I really want to try the Pre-M this spring, so I want to avoid having to seed anything. I think I need to learn ...
