First mow of the year, then applied serenade mixed with kelp help/molasses and Nu-film 17 as sticker. It’s been wet and humid for about 4 days, and got a couple days break before more of it. Trying to pre-empt red thread.
sprayed my yaku rhodys too...

Re: Pushing out red thread
I got it at Agway. It think it was 10ish. 3 bags for me is ~15#K. I've never been to the TSC in Millis, and one just opened in Woonsocket, looks like they carry it too. I didn't get sprouts last year, but a lot of rodent activity tho... This "thread" is a good reminder. I think I will ramp up agains...

Re: Pushing out red thread
For me it was visible last year around May 15, and lasted around 5 weeks. Surprisingly, I didn’t see it in the fall. My thinking is that it’s there a few weeks before visible symptoms. I’m putting some organics (bay state .44#N) down this week end, but that’s also to get a better spread for SOP, and...

Re: __JT__'s soil test
Thanks Andy!!!!! I appreciate it. I was surprised about the TEC value. I’ve gotten previous tests from my local extension (UMass), and three years straight it was @8. I think my sample method is solid (use a pro plugger and took from a lot of points), but definitely double check the depth next year....

__JT__'s soil test
I have a 10,500 sf lawn (sampled 4” from twenty spots). I’m going on 3 years as a lawn enthusiast. I renovated the lawn with the help of this site. I mulch mow about every five days. I have an irrigation system, but use it sparingly. The disease I tend to get is red thread in the spring. My ph has c...

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Gave the yard a light raking, mostly sticks and pine cones from a wooded edge. Then put down an application of lime and GrubEx. A little early with GrubEx, but wanted to time it all with some rain tomorrow…

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
Mulched leaves and got winterizer (i.e. urea 1#N/K) down. I had a leaf cover and partial snow dilemma, but was able to blow a lot leaves off the snow, into some clear areas, and mulch up them there. Went right into dark, then opened a growler of IPA.

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
Sprayed yard with mixture of serenade/KH/yucca/molasses, even thru in an enzyme product someone gave me. It’s on the late side for serenade (actually wanted to do this a few weeks ago) last fall I got a few small spots of red thread round this time. Things do look good now, I just want to keep it th...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
Got a good soaking, so ground is pliable for migrating plugs from mulch-bed edges, to patching lawn. Parceling it out, trying to do ten each day, assuming I get a chance. Using a weasel popper instead of the pro plugger (which I have and like). The popper does better when hitting a stone or root. It...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
Mowing every four days (that’s what my schedule allows), 3 days or 2 days would be better. Aggressive fall N aps really do generate copious amounts of OM thru clippings! And I’m going aggressive ‘lite” with a northern mix (average .25# N urea weekly), however I’ve been feathering in milog since 8/15...

Got a mow in, and dropped .22#N/K BSF, mixed in with .5#N/K (10-10-10).
I had to sneak it in when the boss was out. She thinks the honey do list takes priority this week end.

Dropped .4#N of BayState. I had a partial bag of 10-10-10, so I mixed in .3#N-P-K of that with it. Got half the lawn done last night, going to wrap it up tonight.

What do you use for mixing rates. I looks like it doesn't take much (looking at an online label) so a gallon would last a while.

Re: Need help with disease ID
Thanks seiyafan! I just read this at www.turffiles.ncsu.edu: "Flushes of slime mold growth are often observed after heavy rain storms that were preceded by long periods of dry weather." Pretty much describes this summer, so far. Thanks Chris! The back fared pretty well this summer, altho the front (...

Got a mow in yesterday. Today, stocked up on Bay State. I had struck out a few times this spring, and went with Milorg as a backup.
Tonight, sprayed Serenade/KH/molasses/yucca mix.

Re: hybrid fertilizers "derived from biosolids"
Thanks. My first impression was that in order to get that higher nitrogen concentration, was that the OM might be converted at the mill. Then FWIW, I was reading about a method where the bio-solid particle is sprayed with a urea coating. This one's label is pretty straight forward that the organic m...
