How long do seed live?
How long does grass seed live once spread? Does some seed take longer than 2 weeks to sprout?

Spiked roller tool?
I was thinking it would be nice to have a roller with a lot of short spikes (1/4 ") that would push lawn seed into the soil.
Anyone ever see this?

The one picture sure looks like Nimblewill, but the other looks like stiltgrass.

It looks like the bottom left is the low point, just below the ducks, (ha ha, isn't photoshop great?).
I would dig a small trench and let the water drain towards the expansion crack.

Re: Seed Soaking
I did dry them out, just enough to spread. I used a big piece of cardboard, dumped them on it, and spread it out with a rake. I kept moving them around every 5 minutes or so and let the sun do its thing. The seed had a really nice smell like corn mash, if you ever smelled that. The cloth held some s...

Seed Soaking
After two days of seed soaking as outlined in Jerry Bakers book, the seed were put down today. I will update on the progress. The seeds were wrapped in a old undershirt with a rubber band to hold everything together. Warm water and some epson salts were put in a bucket along with the seeds, then tha...

Yep, my bad! It is Jerry Baker.
Anyway, I think tea or water would work pretty much the same. I was just wondering if anyone ever tried?

Re: Eddie Baker's Seed soak method
Baker, in his book, says to add one cup of tea per pound of grass seed, cover, and put in the refrigerator for 36 to 48 hours. Then spread out the seeds to dry. (He says a warm, dry, concrete surface work really well for this). When dry enough to handle, spread the seeds.

Corn meal use and "critters"
Any problem with bugs and/or critters with the use of corn meal? I can just picture the birds, deer, raccoons, skunks, and other rodents going wild!

Re: Emblem ELITE KBG *Groupbuy*
I have Emblem growing in a pot and it doesn't get direct sunlight. It's in my living room. It's 1 inch tall now and about 15 days old I guess. These seedlings were taken from my damp paper towel seed germination test. It's doing great. :) Man, the hairballs from the cats must be the greenest on the...

Good ideas?
Would anyone buy a sheet of green plastic for solarization? I was thinking this might make a good product for the home turf. Organic, pre-lawn renovation RU, if you will. Water, lay it down, let the sun do its thing, remove and reseed. The other thing I was thinking of is a home, lawn dye kit. It wo...

Re: Slit Seeder rental
My plan was to make a few passes with the bluebird, then pass again with seed, and finally a light pass with the spreader, topped with peat moss.
