Re: micvog's 2017 Soil Test
Thanks Andy! I am still reading up on TEC and pH so this is OK with me. I'll keep the SOP in the basement, and give the gypsum to my father-in-law. Continuing "the rest" would be: - Bag-rate apps of Milorganite in May, June, August (for the N, P, and OM) - 20 Mule Team detergent at 2 TBSP/K, 2 apps ...

Re: Need Soil Help - What Can I Do?
I have been in your position twice in the past 7 years - getting a new lawn established on a previously vacant lot. My experience is that soil takes a few years to settle-in after being disturbed by construction, so I would give it time and follow the plan HLG provided in the Soil forum. Looks like ...

Re: Proactive Bio Fungicide Program 2017
Last year I followed the "don't mix the biofungicide with anything I wouldn't wash my dog with" rule, which I interpreted to exclude the use of a surfactant (in hindsight, since surfactants are in many soaps, that may have been a wrong conclusion  ). I was looking at the label on Serenade and ...

Andy - I just bought some Sta Green Rapid Gypsum. These are re-branded Solu-Cal products.

Re: micvog's 2017 Soil Test
Getting ahead of myself, but I am expecting gypsum in the recommendation and at lunch I noticed Lowe's had 30# bags of their Sta-green "rapid" gypsum on clearance for $0.56/EA. Bought 8 of their last 10 bags.
Bag-rate for "corrective application" is 12#/M; 8 bags would be 2 apps for my 10M of lawn.

Re: micvog's 2017 Soil Test
I should have noted that I imported, and mulched, the leaves from 50 mature ash trees into my lawn last fall. I am assuming that is the primary driver of the jump in my OM%. I bagged clippings most of last year due to rust but plan on mulching clippings this year. I most likley will not have access ...

micvog's 2017 Soil Test
Here are my test results from from Logan Labs (current year on the left; prior year on the right): https://s15.postimg.cc/7ro0rbe8n/micvog_soil.jpg The changes in pH, calcium, and magnesium surprised me. I am comfortable with the samples I took for both years, but in 2016 there was a definite soil h...

Re: Not to happy with my honda hrx 217
I have a 2-year old HRR216VKA (for sale cheap if anyone is interested :P ) with the same problem. I played with the RPMs including going to the second hole, which resulted in my RPMs exceeding spec and some engine backfire. Here is Honda's official method for adjusting RPMs: https://s16.postimg.cc/g...

That's awesome Chrismar! I'll be showing that to my wife tonight so she can reconsider her comments about my spreadsheets and watering diagrams!

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?
Prodiamine 65WDG down last night @ .75#/A. Like Riverpilot, we are expecting a good soaking starting tonight and through the weekend. I don't have an irrigation system so I wanted to take advantage of the rain, even if it may be a little early for the Milwaukee area. Used a tracker when putting it d...

Re: First time user of Prodiamine 65 WDG
Ok... hopefully the timing will work out. If not, I will put down the pre-M in the evening, wait over-night to allow for the "re-entry interval", and then water it in the next morning. My concern was getting pre-M on the outside of the hoses and ultimately my hands.

Re: Dimension and spring fertilizer timing question.
Is it "safe"? I would assume so since most of the Dimension available to consumers includes fertilizer. However, the recommended timing for the pre-M ("when the forsythia starts to bloom" - around April 1 for me) and first fertilization (after Spring flush, if any synthetic at all in the Spring - ar...

First time user of Prodiamine 65 WDG
I am getting ready to line up some supplies for the upcoming season, including a pre-M. In the past I have used granular Dimension but I am thinking of switching to Prodiamine 65 WDG this year due to the lower cost. My question is how to water it in using hose sprinklers. I will need to drag my hose...

Re: Help with Iowa lawn
No one seems to have mentioned it, but you might want to consider putting down 26# of Urea (2# per 1,000 square feet) when the lawn stops growing (next week or so?). This would give you 1# per 1,000 square feet, roughly speaking, of fast-release nitrogen. Timing it after the top growth stops will fo...

Re: Lawn Renovators and Fungal outbreaks and rust.....
Rust was a major problem on my lawn this year (new construction KBG lawn incorrectly seeded August 2015 by my builder at 7.5#/K) and even today looks exactly like the lawn in SyNtAxx's post... and it took 8 gallons of Serenade over just 10K square feet over the course of the season to get there. My ...

Re: Box elder bugs everywhere! Suspend pesticide?
Thanks kbgfarmer. Both wikihow and Planet Natural mentioned sprinkling borax around the perimeter of your foundation as a preventative. I have a box of that left over from micros for my lawn, so I am going to give that a shot. They seemed to disappear as the afternoon wore on. It will be interesting...

Re: Box elder bugs everywhere! Suspend pesticide?
Came home from church to find dozens of these on our house, and the homes of our neighbors (mostly the south-facing exposures). This is the first I have seen them. Do I need to do anything or do they go away on their own? As a native Californian, if I am going to live in Wisconsin it seems the least...
