Re: Boston Globe Article on PFAS in Bay State Fertilizer

I think this is enough reason to certainly not use Bay State as I’m on a well and until I learn more about PFAS in Milorganite I’ll just stick with my Humagrow products and synthetic Fert.

If it’s gold tag yes.

Otherwise the only advantage is being able to get custom

Most big box stores only sell blends.

Re: Mowing height - what are you at?

3 inches. We just had a hard frost last night so growth will wane off quickly.

Re: A No Feed Lawn

Adding fertilizer to a lawn is not toxic.

Even just 1-2 applications a year makes a big difference over a neglected lawn.

You have to decide what you want. Grass has its place too. A healthy turf absorbs more water and obviously provides areas for your kids to play. The aesthetics is obvious.

Re: Drought Stress or something else?

Use your eyes. That’s a hefty burn. Not sure when your frost and final growth normally is but I’d suggest no more fert this year and keep up the watering and let the lawn recover.

Sounds good. I assume a continued pause of the N is in order until recovery?

I ran the sprinkler the right time to put down .25 inches of water, but didn't have tuna cans out, so it's entirely possible it didn't get watered in enough. Suggestions on how to nurse it back to health?

Re: New mower - much better cut

I had an X300 and with the thick lawn the mower was leaving way too many clippings. Level deck, multiple blade changes and sharpening but I just could not get the cut quality I wanted. My lawn needs cut every 2-3 days and is very dense. After much research I went to a triple blade mower. It’s 22 Hp ...

Re: Post Renovation Care Through Winter

If you have no bare spots and no areas to overseed, and if you are already at mowing height doing with a PreM is helpful to prevent issues next spring.

New mower - much better cut

Upgraded my lawn tractor to the JD X380.

Huge improvement in cut quality with the three blade 48 inch deck. Don’t even need to slow down when cutting.

Re: Lime application / fertilization

The water is what helps the lime react with the soil.

Even on lime websites they mention watering it in.

Re: Lime application / fertilization

I don’t go by days I go by rain/water and after about an inch of water.

Personally I’d skip a fertiliser app and get the lime down as getting your soil right is more important that missing a single app of N.

Re: Is fall happening or not??

Southern New Hampshire we had two frosts last week.

Super dry and I had backed off on watering and then the dry spell hit. Playing catch up and few spots losing Color.

We have rain chances every other day but no sustained rain in the future.

Re: Certainty second application

Unless I’m misunderstanding the OP he’s going after the TF not triv. If that’s the case if it were me (having done what he’s trying to do) I would hit the TF again label be damned. He has great response and TF once in that state is on the ropes and can be killed off. I did a three round application ...

Re: Certainty second application

Where are you located? With the good response you are seeing to the TF on the ropes I’d be inclined to do a second application as I bet you’ll kill quite a bit of it even with just the second app. That’s a really good response you’ve got going. Even if you don’t get 100% kill once you reduce the TF ...

Always call the local branch the website if you don’t have an account won’t be area specific. In my case if I want Milo then siteone is basically my only local source. It’s hard to find most of the year. They carry the professional labeled 50 lb bags which have slightly more N & P I requested an acc...

Re: Thick lawn = mowing issues

Not yet but I applied preventative this year. Spending 40 minutes blowing all the clumps after each mow is getting old quick and with shorter daylight hours I usually have to mow one day and blow the clippings the next day. I’m mowing every other day right now. Definitely won’t be adding any more fe...
