Apply Tenacity on top of Certainty?

I just did my second of three scheduled broadcast apps of certainty for poa triv. The third app is in 2 weeks. Can I spot spray my poa A patches with tenacity while the certainty does it's thing on the Triv? Or would tenacity on top of certainty be asking for trouble?

Tweak my Micros?

In a previous thread we analyzed my test results and concluded that more P and K are necessary. I have 0-45-0 coming from a feed store and 0-0-50 on order from Lesco. While I wait for that, could we take a look at my micros and let me know what, if anything needs to be done? Boron went up (I added s...

Re: Applying Certainty to Wet Lawn

I had the same situation one time last year. I decided that staying on the schedule trumped the wet grass, but I upped the spreader/sticker by maybe 50%. I don't remember the application being any less effective. ok. out I go. I did read that the iron that I am spraying with it needs 24 hrs ... but...

Applying Certainty to Wet Lawn

I need to apply my next app of certainty in the next day or so. I can probably get it done 2 hrs before the next rain (supposed to rain a little for the next 7 days) whiuch is what the label says I need to do. My question is whether applying to grass that is already wet will have any impact. I dont ...

Re: Landscaper: "Disturb soil!"

A lot of these guys are just clueless. I'm not saying they all are. But just about anyone can put a sign on their truck and call themselves a landscaper. Around here, a landscaper is a guy who makes his living plowing snow in the winter and wants to get some use out of that truck in the few months ...

Re: Landscaper: "Disturb soil!"

That's funny. I was outside yesterday inspecting my dying Poa T (thanks to certainty) and in the neighbor's yard was a guy with one of those measuring wheels. He was measuring the perimeter of their yard. As he passed by I said "hi" and held my eye contact for a few seconds. He said "hi" and then, r...

Re: Failed my Soil Test?

I feel it is really that good, Dave. You said a mouthful, thank you!
I think the majority of people here feel the same way, otherwise we all would have given up long ago.

Re: Failed my Soil Test?

I think we need to understand poster's goals before we quote specific levels. I know that I try to ask whether a poster wants to stop micronutrients when deficiencies are eliminated, or proceed to "tweak" to optimal levels. The original poster would like a magnificient lawn ... maybe by next week? ...

Re: Failed my Soil Test?

Back o'the class, dude. :-) No, not really. I am very comfortable in the back of the class! Right under the radar. Thanks for the advice. Here's what I see as the plan: - No more sulfur. Fine with me. The stuff I put down in the fall is still sitting there on the surface of the soil. - Grains/milor...

Re: Spring Protocols

Mixing 4 oz ferrous sulfate and 3 oz ammonium sulfate will give you a solution that's fairly balanced, but tilted a touch toward the iron sulfate. That's the way you want it. Ammonium sulfate can strip a little calcium from the plant, and I'd rather not do that--although it's extremely minor. Could...

Re: Spring Protocols

For me, at least, once a month absolute minimum (and I find I can't go that long, really, without being disappointed by the color). I make my own ferrous ammonium sulfate, pump-sprayer applied, at about 4 oz ferrous sulfate and 3 oz ammonium sulfate per thousand square feet, with one 4 gallon spray...

Re: Failed my Soil Test?

- Keep at it! While some of these results may seem puzzling, the true test is how does the lawn look? How does the soil feel? Do you see any real-life improvements? Thanks for the input. Yes, I see a big improvement in the quality of the front lawn. Less so in the back where I have a Poa Triv probl...

Failed my Soil Test?

This will be my 3rd summer in this house. It's a new home where the top soil was scraped off, the house was built and the top soil was put back - together with whatever crappy fill they could find. Did a soil test last year that you guys commented on (I will try to figure out how to link to that thr...

Re: Attacking Poa T - Again

The boom is 40" (3 1/3 foot). The swath it covers is 60" since one nozzle is on each end. For irregular areas, I turn the boom at an angle and swiftly swipe my arm over the area knowing it is getting 3 nozzles worth of output. . 60" sounds great but I would also worry about trying to deal with my i...

Re: Attacking Poa T - Again

I have about 15k sq.ft. too. You might want to consider the SP Systems 3 nozzle boom (or Solo's 2 nozzle boom for that matter). It works great and cuts down my spray time by at least half. It is still a chore, but without it, I probably wouldn't blanket spray anything. I will check it out. I just m...

Re: Attacking Poa T - Again

.5 rate of certainty, 4 tbs of Bonide surfactant, 36oz of Lesco 12-0-0 and 4 gallons of water. Laid out a grid with some twine and sprayed away. You're not saying you did 15,000 sq ft with 4 gal of water are you? No, sorry that I wasnt more clear. I probably used 20 agallons all together. The 15K s...

Re: Attacking Poa T - Again

Just came in from blanket spraying the back yard - maybe 15,000 sqrft. Into my new Solo backpack sprayer went the .5 rate of certainty, 4 tbs of Bonide surfactant, 36oz of Lesco 12-0-0 and 4 gallons of water. Laid out a grid with some twine and sprayed away. Hopefully tomorrow I can do the sides and...
