Re: Anyone ever used "Winterizer" app as the only app?
This year, we were hoping to do it again, but didn't get to. But if the timing works out, we might be able to do the final app instead. If I understand correctly, you are where you are and you can't go back and do what you didn't do, so I would think putting it down is better than not putting it do...

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?
My final drop went down today, with rain coming tonight. The previous was October 10. November 10 +/- a couple of days has consistently been the final cut/fert date over 10 years. It was 60 just over a week ago, soil at 52. But we haven't been above 50 since then, lows between 19-30, soil temp mid-d...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
Last real mowing of the season. It has been about 10 days and I cut about 1/8", probably from the first few days in the 60's. Highs have been in the 40's since then and soil temp has dropped from about 54 to 42 today - I'm confident growth is done. I went 45 degrees to my last up and down to set the...

Re: Frost/Freeze Right On Time
The source I used said 50% historical probability on October 19. My weather station dropped from 32.2 to 31.8 degrees between 11:34 and 11:44pm on the 18th.

Re: What Do You Use For A Final Winter HOC?
I'm at 3.5-4 in the heat of summer to provide some shade and try to prevent it from drying out. Once the weather breaks, I'm down to about 3", and just went down to 2.5 through 2 cuts last week (1/4" each time). That's my final height for the winter.

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
I went out to cut today, thinking I may pick up a few strays and some minimal growth since the last cut, 8 days ago. We've had 15 straight days where the H/L average was below 50, including 3 nights down to 28. But my handy steel rule showed 1/2" growth and I collected almost 1/2 of what I typically...

Re: Tons of rain
If you have a 3 day window with no rain, cut 1/3 the first day, wait and cut again the third day down to where you want it to be (or lower, if another stretch of rain is coming), and drop the micros after that. I assume with the grass so long you are going to bag/collect to avoid big clumps on the l...

Need help identifying weeds - B
Part 2 - skip to ** if you read the first :D Now that I have more time on my hands, I'm starting to look at the back yard, which is a mess compared to the front. While there's a lot growing other than the desirable grass, there are two specific "weeds" that are most prominent. I've shot them with va...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
A quick mow - mulched in a feeble attempt to keep moisture in and heat out. It will be heating up over the next couple of weeks so I left it at 3.5 inches. Looks like the summer slowdown has started even with 1.5" of rain each of the last couple weeks. I may have a break from the pattern of mowing e...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
Too late to edit.... It's been about High 79-83/low 50-53 since I applied, with 1/2"+ rain over 2 of the days. I've always applied ~3 tbsp/K, spaced out early Spring, mid-year, late Fall of what's needed from soil analysis. I typically look for a cooler/wet few days for the middle application. I've ...

About 25K sq. ft. 3 tablespoons/K, rounded off - about what I've always applied.

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
Big mid-summer application - 100lbs Milorganite, 5 cups Copper Sulfate, 5 cups Zinc Sulfate, 5 cups Borax, 20 lbs Ferrous Sulfate, 16 lbs. SOP. I was exhausted and crashed as the rain started and 1/2" fell in the next 12 hours to water everything in. I'm also up to 17 days since since putting down s...
