Re: 'New' House old lawn Restoration 2020
This is a photo of the rear lawn from one year ago. Some how I defeated the crabgrass and have very little of it present. Currently it looks like massive amounts of creeping charlie seeds are germinating. They're so small yet that I'm not sure what they are. I sprayed the worst areas with Tenacity y...

Re: 'New' House old lawn Restoration 2020
Here are two pictures from today showing the green haze, and a before picture from August 4th. It is really nice having something growing out there again. I applied Roundup to everything green in my front Trivialis-K31 weed patch today as well. https://i.postimg.cc/Lg20Xcg0/119936271-618282018847592...

Re: 'New' House old lawn Restoration 2020
I'm considering glyphosphating my front lawn tomorrow. Probably 6k of the 8k area is pure poa trivialis. I'm thinking of putting down seed and erosion blankets around the first of December, and see what happens next spring. My rear lawn looks like I got good overall germination with the Mazama KBG a...

Re: 'New' House old lawn Restoration 2020
Thanks Ken-n Nancy. As soon as I get a breather I plan to spray the triv with Tenacity. Essentially my entire yard (27 thousand sq. ft.) was infested with trivialis. Basically it was a Poa trivialis monostand with some tttf and k31 mixed in as weeds. Also thousands of dandelions, creeping charlie, v...

Re: 'New' House old lawn Restoration 2020
I have some places where the trivialis is coming back to life mixed in with my seedlings. Should I battle it now with Tenacity? Or leave everything be and begin the war next spring?

Re: KBG Seed Question : Any difference in Regular Turf vs Forage Types
This is an interesting question to me as well. I have some friends that own a hardware store, they are selling a KBG named Balin that came from Denmark. Supposedly it is the most popular KBG in Europe. I checked it out and most references are as a pasture grass, but some info says its good for lawns...

Re: Thoughts on 2020 Summer Sesaon Results
I wanted to add that I always mow pretty much at 3.5 inches. Part of the reason being that I assume a tall large plant probably has a more healthy and deeper root system than short mowed plants, I also assume than when drought stress comes these plants will be better able to weather the storm. I see...

Re: 'New' House old lawn Restoration 2020
The rain stopped yesterday, and I have some areas of decent germination starting to show. My rear future lawn is 19k, the front is 8k. By far the rear looked much worse. Weird clumping fescue, Ky31, Poa Triv, and general broad leaf weeds. It looks like I successfully glyphosphated 95% of the rear an...

Re: Thoughts on 2020 Summer Sesaon Results
In North Western Illinois we got1/10 of an inch from 1st of August until a week ago. I have a lawn that I maintain that is a perennial rye mix with some Mazama. The rye turned brown like straw, the Mazama looked stressed but kept it's color and looked much healthier. Now after a week of rain it is a...

Nice pictures. Congratulations on your success. If you only have 100 tall grass plants, can't you hand pull them?

Re: 'New' House old lawn Restoration 2020
We've received about 5 inches of rain this week. For the most part very few hard down pours, mostly long all day light rains. Yesterday I saw early signs of a more general germination. I had a few wash outs, I re-seeded and put down some more erosion matting and also 'Slopemaster'. The Slopemaster p...

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
I wandered around in vain looking for seedling sprouts. It's been raining everyday since Sunday, but nothing yet. (Mazama KBG)

Was there a structure there at one time? I have lawn over an old gravel driveway. It does what your picture shows every summer. The rest of the year it looks normal.

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2020 Version
I forgot to say that I bought the erosion rolled material at Lowes. Apparently they have a bagged good erosion pellet product that is best applied by hand. I'm going to pick up some of that today as well.

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - 2020 Version
I have some similar terrain that I'm seeding as well. I am using a seed blanket that came in a big roll for $40. It seems to be very effective at erosion control in the most vulnerable places.

Re: 'New' House old lawn Restoration 2020
It started to rain about 4am and continued until 9am. We got 1.5 inches and it was a very gentle continuous precipitation. It is supposed to continue raining this week everyday including Friday. I'm pretty happy, no erosion and I saw the beginnings of seedlings for the first time yesterday. We got m...

This is all interesting to me, as I know I have a big poa triv battle ahead of me next year. Which is harder on the turf? Four applications of Tenacity or using Certainty protocol?
