Re: Feeding the Hellstrip - OM ?
Heh, not debating the merit's of OM ! This time of the year or soon, while everyone is busy putting their leave streetside, I'm going around @ pickup night to put them into my compost. Heh, that is one that I'm always short of... I've wondered this many a times. If I see no worms, if I amend, etc. I...

Re: Tenacity after overseed
-Same results. It can whiten, damage, and/or kill any of the common cool season turfgrass seedling species.- Is this for all cool season grasses. And or in my readings, FF is more suspect to kill on on young seedlings ? I read post where I believe the poster was saying he applied it once every other...

Feeding the Hellstrip - OM ?
Hellstrip has got blacktop on one side and some concrete on the other.... I did give it a layer of compost on the overseed Is there any benefits on putting down some alfalfa pellets. The dirt in this area...whenever I have dug it, it's lifeless. Not a sign of worms, etc. I dunno if there's any life ...

Re: Transplanting Plug Pots
thx. the pot plugs I've still got - some are still new blades (too fine and soil is not knitted/firm in the pot yet) . Probably will end up putting these in -washout areas like the heavy rain we got the other day....

Re: Tenacity after overseed
For clarity, tenacity should be applied at time of overseed (and or before it germinates) and or 3-4 weeks after germination if I recall on the label ? If I recall, it applied anywhere IN BETWEEN, it may kill off some, or and stunt the new seedling . This is only for KBG . What effects does it have ...

Re: Fertilizer for renovation
What's your take on Tenacity for new overseeding spots - fall Pre M ? I sprayed a smidge on area's where I overseeded. Give or take in 4-5 weeks, where KBG may be poking it's head, I'm thinking about another potential app as it wears off However, this might stunt the KBG - which I should do so it pr...

Transplanting Plug Pots
I've got various pots I've had that I've been planting/germinating as I have attain free ~plastic blueberry/strawberry trays LOL) . Some are fairly mature (blades are thick and mature, others are still germinated and still young). I went ahead and planted the mature blade pot plugs in some empty spo...

Might check the label, but if memory recalls, you can seed down after Quinclorac on the 6th or 7th day fwiw

Crowns Self Adjust
Like plants, as they grow, they shift in the soil a smidge.
If one tops/levels the turf yearly (depending on how much is put down), does the crowns ---adjust--- to the height of the turf ?

Sandy Soil
Having never really worked with Sandy Soil, sorta brainstorming here. For those that do have sandy soil, aside from ~good cultural practices~ of amend, amend, amend, how are you guys keeping the nutri. enough for the grass. Topdress bi-yearly with compost. Fertz liquid of kelp

Re: RENOV SOD in a wasteland of weeds ?
The battle was lost before it ever began. I laid down KBG sod and threw down TTF. I sprayed down some Prod. on the adjacent sides. Had to make a impromptu visit , so I swung by the cemetary. Bits and pieces of the sod are still good *I suspect it's the TTF*. The rest is now dormant....Some area are ...

Re: Post pics of your peonies
I've got a 6-7 ft high peony that is to be removed from the garden one day nest year.......tired of the space it takes up for the short bloom time *albit its beautiful*. And man, from BR from good suppler, it's still more like a 4-5 year shrub + before establishment and real *blooms* When I think of...

Re: Post pics of your peonies
I actually removed a good 70% of them to and made the peony bed a rose bed. While the peony blooms are great (for the 3-10 days the blooms last), one heavy spring rain and the blooms go poof and it's foliage for the rest of the year. Ha. Hence, we made the peony bed a English Rose Garden bed full of...

Re: How much peat moss could inhibit/prevent germination.
If you did not wet the peat before you laid it on and it was dry.....it will take awhile or a lot of rain to get it saturated. You could try a light watering with some baby shampoo or soap in the water mix just to help aid in getting the initial peat wet. And or boiling water ;-0

Re: Core Aeration - Overseed and Fill
I came across a couple of threads once you mentioned it was ~frowned upon~ on core aeration.
Will need to read some more. In my very brief skimming, (bad analogy), but it sorta reminded me how using some soap can help if one needed to ~rehydrate peat moss~ once it became dried out and hydrophobic

Re: Core Aeration - Overseed and Fill
To expand on a topic further, I thought core aeration was a good cultural practice at least 1X a year. Allows for nutrients, etc. My OP was re: compactation/lack of irrigation/better moisutere. But the principles of coring, better/longer root growth, etc still apply no ? Well, technically, looser so...

Re: Core Aeration - Overseed and Fill
I'm seeing liquid soil aerators online.....reviews seem favorable. Could only stick a screw in 1/2" . After said liquid aerator applied, screwdriver went in 6 inches .....unless its too much of a Billy Mays-esque sales pitch review
