Re: Snow on May 9th? Really?
We got hit with 27F after mothers day. My roses took it on the chin.
Latest frost on record.
Around here they always say dont plant annuals until Mothers Day.
Throw that one out.

Re: Future hosta bed for HLG??
I've got some sprouting going on, but some others that are obviously dried up.
Mediocre success thus far.
I kept a dozen in the fridge to hopefully patch thing up where they dont make it

Re: Future hosta bed for HLG??
My goal is to have a nice bed on the north side of my house that should be perfect for the empress wu I put there with surrounding plants, and then to line the creek and fill in a wooded area that turf doesnt do as well in. One thing I noticed was how many grubs were present in the woods by the cree...

Re: 1st or 2nd Best Hosta Sale (for Larger Yards)
Yeah. I totally pulled the trigger on this a few weeks ago. Took a bit to ship, but it got here pretty fast once it did, before I was expecting it.

Re: Future hosta bed for HLG??
Well, I finally pulled the trigger. I picked up 100 hosta roots and 1 empress wu from Gilbert h wilde. The kids needed something to work on too. They shipped sooner than advertised, so i didnt have 2 to 3 weeks to do perfect bed prep along the creek, but did along the house. They also arrived a day ...

And yeah, everybody thinks it's great get to work from home but when you dont leave the house for 3 days.....
Work and private life blend, you end up working nonstop.... you get less exercise...
Wait until its 3 weeks....

Re: Tenacity Experience During Seeding/Germination/Young Blades
Honestly, just follow the label for Tenacity - it's really good.
The first, recommended application after seed down is just about the time things are tillering (new blade shoots). So, that lines right up with what they recommend.

Re: It's Finally the Day I Consider the Beginning of Spring!!
I actually cut the areas that get runoff from my sumpline and grow all winter yesterday! Had some reel work done so I needed to make sure it was all ready, perfect opportunity in the mid 50s for a few days. Definitely springing into action around here - bulbs are up, my roses are greening - I moved ...

Re: Status of POACure? (Updated 02/2020 below)
Interesting product. I've seen lots of people take multiple seasons to erradicate poa annua, so even if it took a whole season, I can still see that helping in the long run by shaving off seasons, not months.
Nonetheless, that pricepoint is a pretty big barrier!

In Indiana, I wait a bit after greenup. We often have a late frost that kill things off pretty easily.
And I'm more of a plug guy anyways with KBG. Moved several dozen this past weekend to cover some bare spots.

Put a fork in it. Dropped 50 lbs urea yesterday by hand and cut today for the last time. Now to get the reels dropped off and serviced.

C+
My turf species just doesn't do well over the summer as short as it gets cut. I'm doing some things to mod my reels to get them up a bit higher.

I say trust your gut and go for it. Youre right theres no real winter for you.
Ebb and flow with the turf. Give it rest when its slowing down. Ground temps have a big effect on what it does.
