Re: What should I do next?

Sounds like you're doing wel! On KBG you want it to emerge from sprout n pout before synthetic feedings. That gives the roots time to develop. And you may want to start backing off watering now that you have widespread germination and head to less frequent, deeper waterings to encourage said root gr...

Re: Serious lawn problems (long post)

Can you offer a few good sources for urea fertilizer? And wouldn't starter fertilizer work better for the bare spots? Best sources will be something like an farm co op tractor supply, rural king type store. Water irea in well afterwards or before some rain as it can burn. That little program will p...

Re: Serious lawn problems (long post)

End of the window for dropping seed in PA. I'd drop seed, roll it well, and top dress with peat moss. Ditch the mushroom compost and thatch. Then keep it watered well. Hopefully the herbicides wont impact germination. It's hard to say what's going on in those spots. Then do light high N fertilizatio...

Re: So I got a visit from Tru-Green today!!!!!!

Man i dont know. On my lawn i would expect a full renovation to kill off whatever they threw out there and return it to a monoculture of mature turf. Or sod of my cultivar.l immediately. I bet itd cost then 10 to 20 grand to do it right.

Re: 1 acre lot

Look for some posts by flyin low. Did a Reno on large acres using natural rainfall in east central Indiana. He seeded late when it stays wetter and the precipitation is more persistent, like mid September. Pick a grass you like the looks of and go with it. I personally dont like the aesthetics of KY...

We have been getting light, infrequent rain here at least. Good for you if you rely on natural rainfall.

Re: 1 acre lot

I would drop seed now and if you like PR mix it in. PR wont do as well over the summer without irrigation but will establish easier. Touch it up with follow up seed in a few weeks or again in the spring.

Even if you can water it just a little for 3 or 4 days PR will do better.

It's one of those "articles" that seems misplaced. Go to Home, then FAQs, then click on Steps to Overseeding. Steps to New Establishment . Then again, it does provide answers to frequently asked questions, so there you go. It's not particularly detailed; I think I've seen a better post on the subje...

Re: Cut quality & Fungal??? Issues

The other thing I note is you haven't fertilized since spring. That turf is hungry. Feed it. Fall is when it needs the most N. I'd go with light, regular doses and nurse it back to health. Perfect time to start in MI. If you are concerned with fungus, it's also good time for fall preventative apps. ...

Are you sure the blades are on the right direction and tightened on to the right torque spec?

Then check the RPM.

I would go schedule 40. I've had the black, corrugated pipe collapse and it cant be rotorooted. Too weak and it tears it up.

Re: New house and new lawn.

Yeah dont till. And grass seed doesnt need planted a quarter inch deep at all. It can be applied on top and pressed in with a roller. No need to rake first if you have bare dirt. Wet it, apply seed, then apply peat moss on top and roll it. Read up on the new lawn establishment article and find some ...

Re: Mowing Choice For Seedlings

Green babies will survive pressure well, they dont do so well with LOTS of pressure or twisting though. If you have a rider with wide tires the pressure is less, but avoid turning and anything else that would cause sliding or tire spinning as it will uproot them. I.e. y turn in adjacent space, no qu...

Re: KBG near the road dies every year

Hard to fight blacktop heating the root zone to dormancy.

I have the same challenge. Water is best, but even then it's hard to water just that 1 ft strip and not overwater the rest of the irrigation zone. Lesser of two evils.

Re: Traded in my 1/2 acre for 3 1/4 acres..centipede

Definitely shop around for a good farm co op or similar. You have from now to next spring lol. Centipede is lower input than others so that's good for cost. I take my trailer with a bunch of heavy duty plastic containers and fill them up, stack them in my garage. I'd get some urea from said place an...

More water.

Or landscape away from the road so you dont have to fight hot blacktop.

No, it doesnt do much to mature CG. You can apply seed a day after applying glyohosate if its dried off. I dont know the details on quinclorac

Re: Quinclorac or Glyphosate to remove Crab Grass for Fall Reno.....

Around here the CG will be brown and dead soon.

Neither? Drop PR, blanket spray Tenacity, let mother nature kill it for you.

This is an overseed not really a renovation. Get a good ore emergent down when its time.
