Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens: How Is It Going?
So far each fall I think I come into the Fall fertilizer Program with unrealistic expectations. In theory I should get 7 urea apps based on the avg. first frost date. This week the lawn finally looked good, but its been almost 5 weekly Urea apps to get there. There may be some spreading, but I have...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Andy, what are your thoughts on dissolving and going liquid vs granular. I feel I can get more accurate coverage spraying vs using my larger spreader. Does it need to be watered in as much or any sooner than granular? I haven't done it yet myself.

Re: Roundup alternative?
Ever tried a plastic tarp? If its not a huge yard, that will do a decent job. Dont ask me how I know. The kids sure had fun on their 10x100ft slip and slide though. I've seen people a whole front yard with clear plastic. Mine was black. Less than 23hrs cooked s pretty good section. Not sure which wo...

Re: Milo price match
If I had the funds and resources I would start bagging Minnegrow here in Minnesota. Basically the same as milo up in the suburbs of Minneapolis. But they only sell to farmers as of now. I tried getting my hands on some as the distributor is in my small town. But wouldnt deal with anyone unless you g...

Re: Milo price match
Been price matching at Lowe's for yrs. When fleet farm or menards has it for 6 bucks. I go to lowes and get it plus the 5 percent price match, plus another 5% on my lowes card saves me 10 percent total. 5.40 a bag. I wish i didnt need 20 bags though.

Re: Nitron thatch away
Can i chime in here without hijacking. I dont have thatch, but I have a lot of thin areas that have a lot of dead grass on the surface of the soil. I did run a pull behind tine rake this spring to try and get some of it up. But there is still a lot of it there. Do I simply need to get the turf to fi...

Re: N-Ext products
Thanks for chiming in on this Andy. My only other question as I am a rookue is, GCF is claiming theirs is better because it is not derived from a powder. Does that play into effect? I didn't think it would. But I'm no expert. Also do you think adding fulvic to KH would add anything worth mentioning?...

Re: N-Ext products
I got the bio package this spring to try. Pete at Gci turf is a great guy to chat with. I used the rgs and air 8 this spring when i sprayed my prodiamine. I did notice a difference but it wore off like any fertilizer does. I only used a 1/4 of an app since i have such a large yard. I did just put on...

Re: How to irrigate large lawn
Ive been struggling myself to figure out how to run mine on the 1 acre I moved into last fall. I have 16 zones split between two controllers on a shared well. My wife doesn't want them run past 5am for when she gets up to take her shower. Otherwise there isn't enough pressure for that. So I start at...

Re: The #1 mistake....
I had an old co-worker do the same thing a few yrs back. Except the whole yard got nuked. His yard was in very bad shape to begin with, so I explained to him how this was a miracle in disguise. I helped him with a reno knowing half as much as I do now. And his yard looks amazing now. In my smaller y...

Re: Cost-effective treatments for 1.5 acres
Im in the same boat as you. Purchased our 1.3 acres last year with roughly 1 acre lawn. 42.5k is irrigated. The previous couple had a decent company do their lawn. But I am hoping to beat it. So far the neighbors that are the weed and feed type think it looks good. I still wish it looked better and ...

Re: Any reason not to mix regular Miracle Gro (with K and micros) into FAS?
I don't know the answer to your question as I just got my first batch of FAS. But if you don't mind, when do you like to apply it? Temp wise? My lawn is looking decent after some N ext and air 8 and just fertilizing. So not sure if I even need it now?

Re: Who hasn't applied Nitrogen yet?
Threw down 16lbs of milo in the dogs 500sqft area last night and a few thin/dead spots from last falls last app of urea that got a bit too much and not watered in. I was planning on doing the rest of my acre this week before we leave for the dells. But I think I will have to wait till this coming we...

Re: Is now a good time to put down my first fert of the season in Southern CT?
It basically seems like urea, coated with humic and fulvic?? And potassium humate. Which I believe is potassium salt of humic? I did see the 44 as well. Im not sure how much the guys there will be able to explain either. They do have quite a variety of stuff there. But this one seemed most cost effe...

Re: Is now a good time to put down my first fert of the season in Southern CT?
You're spot on with my thinking Green. With the late spring we had it feels like we are getting a late jump on things and I cant make a decision on what to do. I was looking at this from Reinders.. .https://www.reinders.com/products/andersons-22-0-4-50-hcu-43-black-gypsum-dg-sgn-240-50-lb-bag/ Going...
