Re: Cow manure?

The math is easy, a yard covers 100 sqft at 3" of depth. If you have 10k sqft, the question is then for you, how deep do you want it to be? The rest is just some math.

You don't want it fresh at all. Look into the black Joe stuff if you want manure. Alfalfa pellets or cracked corn, peat moss all add OM.

OM is a journey though.....

Re: Soil Test - Morph!

Hey Morph, Question for you on the Urea.....whats the best way to apply this? a hose end sprayer or just sprinkle around the roots? I don't have a good handle on how to give the beans less and the cucumbers more other than putting it in a hose end sprayer and ponly spraying the beans for 30 seconds ...

Re: Full year nitrogen demand - KBG Lawn

Thanks guys, I think I am going to push it a little this year as it is young and needs to fill in, i just got a JD x380 so i wanna mow and i think that our water levels are good so I won't need to worry about a dormant stretch during the summer. I put down an application of baystate on 4/18. i'll pl...

Re: Full year nitrogen demand - KBG Lawn

I think I might do an April, may, June treatment, take July off, then back at it with aug, sept, oct and then the winterizer once growth stops.

Anyone think that's foolish? An application of baystate only cost me about $60 for the full 30k sqft.

I'll keep reading as well!

His recommendation was roughly double the normal lawn on a KBG Reno's first year.
Can you tell me how you pull that out? I got that feeling reading it but the. His recommendation seemed (to me) to recommend 4

Re: Full year nitrogen demand - KBG Lawn

Thanks guys - for the conversation, I know there are a lot of these threads out there. @Georgia Dad - I've been through Philes posting before, thanks for sharing that again. After reading that I feel a little confused.....up top he talks about feeding often (sod farms) then on the bottom he recommen...

Re: Full year nitrogen demand - KBG Lawn

So the front (2015 reno) got I think three applications of baystate (bag rate) and the fall winterizer last year and the back (2016 reno) got the starter at planting, one baystate application and then the winterizer. I want to make sure I'm giving it everything it needs and the reason I'm questionin...

Re: Dormant over seed and Barricade

Has the dormant seed sprouted? I think you need to give it 60 days or two mows before applying a preM to it. Never too late for a preM as long as you plan to fight the existing sprouted weeds as the barricade will only stop new seeds.

Full year nitrogen demand - KBG Lawn

My kids have been sick for 4 days so please bare with me here..... I "think" I've got the math and stuff right. Conventional advice is 4 "applications" of fertilizer a year. Using sta green from lowes, 29-0-5 at 42 lbs over 15k sqft is about .8 pounds of N Using baystate, 4-3-0 at 40 lbs over 2k sqf...

Re: Oil Changes

I put the friction modifier in the rear but not the engine. Do you use your tractor heavy? The dealer wrote me back and said "you won't have any issues using Mobil 1 over the turf gard". Honestly all oil these days are great and it's more about being consistent with what you use, change it appropria...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Had grand plans of picking up a pallet of baystate today but I went to Lowes, bought a trailer, went to the RMV (twice) and then finally back to Lowes to actually get the trailer and by then I wasn't getting stuck in 93 traffic down by Quincy. I did pick up some wbg with the motorized wand..... I'll...

I've run Amsoil in everything I own and it's never let me down.
Yeah we run amsoil in our 97 powerstroke but I don't use my tractor heavy enough to warrant a superior oil like that. Odds are I'm changing it out each your due to the "annually" recommendation vs the hours.

Re: KBG Green-Up

I'm in your same boat, thin Reno from last year and it's slow to go this spring. I put down tenacity to help my dormant and spring seeding and at this point it's just now starting to really come around so give it a little time. The tenacity worked good on sprouted weeds even though I used it as a preM

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Got the first mow in at 3" but not all the grass was that high so it basically just leveled it off a bit. Given the upcoming week of rain and temps I expect it to take off nicely.

Hmm, for some reason I can't edit my post. I meant to say... Rotella 15w40. That's the heavy duty stuff.....Diesel engine area! Seems like you guys stick close to the MF oil and for how often I'm changing it, it's probably not a big deal to stick with it as long as it's quality. I love Mobil 1 and ...

No it was still wet all day so I tied down some of the branches on my peach trees and got some cleanup done. Mowing tomorrow!
