Re: Opinions on KBG Cultivar Selection

It would be slightly darker and would grow slower. I don't think you have to worry about Red Thread with any KBG cultivars, its just not a problem. Rye is a different story. Thanks jg, my front lawn has a huge amount of red thread every year and I just don't want to even take the chance. Bestlawn s...

Re: Opinions on KBG Cultivar Selection

If I dropped Bedazzled completely and went with Bewitched/NuGlade, would I see the transition from the new portion without Bedazzled to the old portion with 30% of it?

Best Tools for Renovators

About a year or two ago there was a post that discussed the best tools for renovators (not the top 10 post). The discussion included Tenacity and the product applied that retains moisture and provides margin to a watering schedule - I can't remember the name of the product. I can't find the post usi...

Re: Opinions on KBG Cultivar Selection

It appears pre-mixing at SSS saves a decent amount of money compared to buying seed from multiple sources. I don't want to try a monostand, does anyone have opinions about always including one from each of the three KBG groups versus only selecting a Compact and Midnight type? I don't lose a lot of ...

Opinions on KBG Cultivar Selection

Hi All, I haven't posted much in a few years but still read for the great information on this site. My 7000sqft yard was renovated in stages over three years (2010-2012) using Bewitched/Nuglade/Bedazzled (40/30/30). I selected these primarily for red thread and other disease resistance. I'm preparin...

Re: Time To Start Thinking About Fall Plans

Fairly new to this type of lawn care. If I am reading your post correctly you mulch down 4"-5" of leaves down to about 2" into your lawn? I have a tree in my front lawn that drops some serious leaves in the fall, instead of picking them up I can mulch them in? How often should that be done? I know ...

Re: Time To Start Thinking About Fall Plans

How many people lower their deck and to what mowing height? All season I keep it at the highest setting (4" according to my tractor specs - though I've never measured it). I usually only drop it one notch to about 3.5" for winter. I haven't seen a problem with matting or disease.

Re: Bentgrass problem in 7yo KBG lawn that has irrigation

I too am dealing with CBG in my young KBG lawn. I tried Tenacity in one spot for the first time 10 days ago and have been keeping an eye on it. To spot spray I used 1/2 tsp in 1 gallon of water with 1.5 tsp turbo sticker. Being new to Tenacity I was waiting to see how well the concentration and my a...

Evergreen diseases and new tree selection

Hi everyone, I've been going back and forth on our selection for a tree in our front yard. The location gets about 5hrs of sun and is on a small berm so I expect it is well drained. Road salt is not an issue. The goal is a little privacy and winter color. The tree is from a local nursery and is 7-8'...

Re: Pre-emergent Timing Observations

Thanks for the pre-m clarification bernstem. I had read about someone on this forum using small continual apps of Tenacity on Triv while trying to rake and disturb the stolons. I haven't tried it yet but I don't know of any other options. I have to get a confirmed ID at my cooperative extension but ...

Re: Pre-emergent Timing Observations

Hi all. Last year I became aware of the growing Annua and Triv problems I have in my KGB renovated lawn. I have about 8ksqft renovated in 3 stages: fall 2010/11/12. Last fall I was too late to find any pre-em at Lesco (apparently my store only stocks it in the spring). I bought Tenacity but never wo...

Too late for Milorganite and Micros?

I needed to restock on my sulfates and just got it in the mail. Is it too late to apply in Albany NY (zone 5)? I'm thinking it's getting late for applying organics.

Re: ISSAC to hit Connecticut

Add me to the list of concerned renovators. I seeded 3000sqft on Sunday and am expecting 1-2" tonight. My little seeds have only been wet for 2 days. We've been dry for so long but I'm hoping the ground will be able to absorb a good amount and minimize the run off. I also put a good amount of peat m...

Suggested tools to apply Tenacity

Hi all, I have triv and am going to buy some Tenacity to handle it before fall/winter. This will be the first time I'm applying it and have decided to stay away from Certainty. I'm hoping I can tackle it like sc4dr did in this post. I've only seen it in an area of about 200 sqft. I plan on reading a...
